As a business owner it’s easy to feel like your work is never done – because no matter how much you do, there is always more that could theoretically be done. Many business owners we’ve spoken with also feel that they have a responsibility to be available to their team and that if they step away they are putting an undue burden on their team. So, we wanted to hear from a broad range of business owners on whether they take vacations and we’ve shared some of their responses below.

I don’t know what a vacation is lol. I haven’t taken a vacation in so long and honestly the path that I am on I don’t plan to take a vacation until I am really able to go and really enjoy myself without having to come back to having to deal with issues. I just returned from a vacation recently – but I hadn’t taken even a “Staycation” or weekend getaway in over three years. It was time! Oftentimes I feel like “we” put vacations and other fun activities on the back burner. Putting work first. But to be honest, without taking a mental health break (aka vacation) regularly, we simultaneously are putting our well-being and mental health on the back burner. Read more>>

I think vacations are the perfect way to relax, recharge and gain new inspiration. I love traveling because I get to see how other cultures live and love. I love my hometown of Washington, D.C. but I’m truly a nomad at heart. There’s a sense of freedom in being able to travel and I don’t take it for granted.
