As a business owner it’s easy to feel like your work is never done – because no matter how much you do, there is always more that could theoretically be done. Many business owners we’ve spoken with also feel that they have a responsibility to be available to their team and that if they step away they are putting an undue burden on their team. So, we wanted to hear from a broad range of business owners on whether they take vacations and we’ve shared some of their responses below.

I am answering this question currently on vacation. So yes…and no, not like you think. My industry is very much based on momentum. When I am in a flow, I am more productive and new business opportunities present them more consistently. I absolutely love to take vacations and travel with my family. I don’t get the opportunity to do so nearly as much as I would like, however. Vacations are a big challenge as a small business owner. We don’t have a large team to manage orders and take care of administrative work to enable time away from the bakery so it takes a good bit of planning. We schedule our time off many months in advance and block dates out on our calendar. While we are away, I still take some time to respond to emails and client inquiries when I get the chance, so it’s never a full fledged getaway from work, but for now, it works for us. Read more>>

Actually, I just came back from a business vacation. I was allowed the opportunity to speak at my First International Conference at Taxes in Tulum, a Wealth Development Summit hosted by The Carter’s, owners of Carter and Associates and Carter Capital PLLC.
