As a business owner it’s easy to feel like your work is never done – because no matter how much you do, there is always more that could theoretically be done. Many business owners we’ve spoken with also feel that they have a responsibility to be available to their team and that if they step away they are putting an undue burden on their team. So, we wanted to hear from a broad range of business owners on whether they take vacations and we’ve shared some of their responses below.

I think it’s important to have self-care and make sure you enjoy life as a business owner, making sure that you are well rested and are taking care of your personal needs as well as vacationing spending time at the spa resting enjoying your family friends and loved ones is necessary in order for you to be able to operate your business with the spirit of excellence peace, and motivation to continue to make sure that your customers are satisfied and happy you must make sure that you take very good care of yourself and spend time away vacationing is imperative. Yes, I take vacations regularly, and I believe they are essential. As a therapist, I know firsthand how vital rest and rejuvenation are for maintaining mental and emotional well-being. Taking intentional time away from work helps me return with greater clarity, presence, and energy. It also allows me to model the boundaries and self-care practices I encourage in my clients. We plan 4 vacations or getaways a year with our family. Some are closer to home and some are full vacations. They often include some sort of business connection but can also be a true trip away as a family. I always understand the need for them, but I often take them too late. I enjoy what I do, which I am very thankful for. Animation is my bread and butter and I enjoy creating art for my job. Too much of a good thing (like bread and butter) can be a bad thing. I often go for long stints of hard work and then realize too late I need a vacation. Read more>>
