What even is a “regular” job? Semantics aside, the heart of our question is about those moments when the stress of entrepreneurship is mounting – do you ever sit back and wonder what if you had just been working for someone else, what life would have been like without all the stress?

I like to think of myself as someone that is adaptable in any situation. I have been an employee, a manager, and now a business owner. I have been a business owner for almost 7 years now, which is longer than I have been an employee and yet there are days that I wish I could work a regular job. Operating a business can sometimes be extremely exhausting as much as it is rewarding. When you are a business owner, there isn’t an option to clock out, go home and never think about the issues of the day. Read more>>

Independence: Something I have yearned for since I was going door-to-door by myself selling custom-made flip flops at eight years old, “Cortney’s Flop Shop” was the name. Then again, at eighteen years old I started a makeup business where I hand-pressed makeup palettes that I shipped all over the United States, “Makeupaholics” was the name. Now that I have spent years trying to find my passion, I have finally settled on a career that has changed my life. Being a business owner means that I am a Jack of All Trades: Read more>>

Yeah I think about it all the time. Ive never had a job and dropped out in middle school to Pursue art and didn’t really have that high school experience but it wasn’t really essential to what I’m doing so I don’t really care. Everyday I just get reminded why I’m doing what I’m doing and who I do it for so that keeps me going. I just like to think there’s a alternative universe version of me that said f*ck that fashion shit and just went the school route & got a cool little 9-5 so that’s good enough for me Read more>>

It takes faith, integrity, and self-acceptance to rise above any difficulties you may face in life to achieve both short and long-term goals. Is self-doubt present? Sure. Am I happy? At times. Thoughts of transitioning to a full-time job occurs daily when clients schedule appointments and no show. I’ve thought about whether being a business owner is what I really want 8 million times. There are so many times I thought to myself that if I just had a 9-5 job, that I wouldn’t have the amount of responsibilities that owning a business requires. I could go home and not have to think about work,
I wouldn’t have to worry about staff issues, figuring out what to do when business was bad, I could go on vacation and not have to check in with the office, I would have a steady paycheck whether business was good or bad, I wouldn’t have to make tough decisions, if I didn’t like it anymore, I could just get another job, I would get sick days, etc. Read more>>

In short “YES” however, being an entrepreneur or business owner definitely has its highs and lows. I do sometimes think about what it would be like to have a regular job again but the way my flexibility in my schedule is unmatched by a traditional 9-5. I say that not to knock any individual working a 9-5 but I realized that schedule did not aline with the life I am building for myself. The last time I had the thought of going back to the traditional schedule was a little bit before covid. Read more>>
