What even is a “regular” job? Semantics aside, the heart of our question is about those moments when the stress of entrepreneurship is mounting – do you ever sit back and wonder what if you had just been working for someone else, what life would have been like without all the stress?

I am so happy that I am a business owner! I seriously am so in love with what I do! If “regular job” meaning 9-5 M-F, then no I do not wonder what it would be like. The only time I’ve ever thought maybe photography isn’t for me was when I was first starting out because I was not getting a lot of inquiries. I love that I am my own boss, and that I am able to spend so much time with my family! Read more>>

Definitely! The flexibility of my schedule would never work with a regular job. I would miss out on so much time with my family. The ability to plan and schedule your work ahead of time is liberating. Regular jobs require you to be on their time, however working for yourself lets you decide when, where and how much. I really think about this daily. Read more>>

I personally am so much happier as a business owner. I get to spend my days doing something I am passionate about. I remember my dad always telling me in my teenage years, “find something you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.” It doesn’t mean that owning a business is easy, or that it’s any less strenuous than a “regular job.” Owning your own business is hard, but I enjoy the work. I love having my own business. After eight years of being a freelance business owner, I see no other way of life. Sure, at times it can be stressful when you have a slow month or work is trickling in but thats why it’s important to keep a safety net. It’s also important to use that time to be productive and work on things that fall to the side when you’re chugging along. Read more>>

I absolutely LOVE my “job”! I get to work with the best clients, many of whom I now consider friends! I love having the creative freedom to design & print. But with both comes challenges that can keep me up at night. My brain never turns off! It’s up to me to create stationery/invitation designs for clients and THEN execute (bring them to life!) to perfection. That means a lot of pressure on myself. Read more>>

I have been my own boss/entrepreneur since I was 16? That’s when I took photography professionally. And I am so grateful that I have the opportunity to not need typical job that most people have. I know not everyone can just drop everything to become a business owner or have the funds + support to start one. It really is something I am so grateful for and won’t ever take for granted. Sometimes there are those little stumps in the road that can be frustrating and discouraging, but most days I am happy to be a business owner- I love connecting with people. Read more>>

At times, I daydream about having a regular job. Waking up and only worrying about making it to work on time. Knowing whatever tasks are laid before me, I have more than likely done before. I probably know them like the back of my hand. I know the chain of command and am adept in all company protocol. Read more>>

Overall, I am much happier as a business owner. Many days I have intense imposter syndrome or I can’t see what the future lies ahead and those days can be extremely frustrating and discouraging. Despite those feelings, I don’t want to give this up. When I think about applying for full-time jobs, I feel myself cling tighter to this life I have created for myself because I recognize how much of a blessing it is to own your own business. I ask, and get asked often if I’m happy I decided to go out on my own, and the answer is always a resounding yes! I’ve had regular jobs, so I know what I’m missing out on. Although, the thought of being a delivery driver and listening to podcasts/music and being alone without the pressures of business ownership sounds nice sometimes. Read more>>

I am sure most business owners have had the thought (usually when you’re up late taking care of some work task) if being a business owner was really the right path. I confess that throughout the years, I’ve definitely spent some time pondering this. Would everything just be easier if I had a regular job? Read more>>

Yes, Im happier as a business owner. So far I haven’t thought about working as a regular employee helping someone else build their dreams. Let us be truthful there are plenty of challenges that come with operating your own business. The rewards of running your own business far outweigh the difficulties. I remember working in “corporate America” and not happy, tired of being told when and what I have to do on a daily basis. Read more>>

I’ve actually held a full-time job in design leadership since I’ve been a business owner. In each role, I spend a lot of time strategizing, planning, and scoping my efforts; but then they start to become different. Life as a business owner moves more urgently. If there’s an issue or decision to make, it has to be handled right away. Read more>>

Freelancing full time as a filmmaker definitely has its challenges. I’ve been doing this for about five years, and I sometimes think about going back into retail management for the stability and opportunity to help people every day. I worked in retail for eight years, and even though I technically have my dream job right now, I get a bit wary of the unknown. Read more>>

This is an easy question! While small business owner is an all consuming challenge, I would not do anything else!! On the really hard days I day dream of clocking in and out, but when I am really honest I never had that mind set.The best part of my job is the owner part. Creating the vision, environment, and brand that makes our customers and teams lives easier and more beautiful is the driving force. Read more>>

As I am growing along with my business, I get more and more excited. I’ve been in health care for 7+ years or so. As a traveling anesthesia technician, my pay was quite lucrative and I was used to the security of a weekly check and guaranteed insurance/benefits, whereas as a business owner you do not have those comforts.
