What even is a “regular” job? Semantics aside, the heart of our question is about those moments when the stress of entrepreneurship is mounting – do you ever sit back and wonder what if you had just been working for someone else, what life would have been like without all the stress?

I feel like this is the perfect topic to speak about right now! I have recently had questions about whether or not it would be easier to get a regular job. That is because of the inconsistency of being a photographer, the beginning of the year is usually slow for photographers. There was also a bump in the road with my husband’s job. The financial stress caused me to have doubts on being a full time photographer. Read more>>

I am very happy as a business owner. I love scheduling sessions having a flexible schedule. However, I sometimes find myself wondering if it would be easier to have a regular job. I get overwhelmed with doing every aspect of my business alone: marketing, social media posts, accounting, blog writing, scheduling, and doing my sessions. It really tough some days and regular jobs look to be so simple and stable. That thought usually leaves as I am so very happy to meet my clients and their fur babies. The animals make my job worth it. Read more>>

It seems that every time this thought has presented itself to me, it has been in the midst of a stressful or uninspiring situation pertaining to my position as a business owner. The last time I asked myself ”Should I leave all of this behind me and work for someone else?” was about a year ago when the world was just beginning to bounce back from the pandemic. I had gone two and a half years with no extended education, decrease in income, a general lack of inspiration and the feeling of isolation within the industry. Read more>>

It’s definitely interesting to see how owning a business is such a radically different way of life than working for an organization. There was a comfort in the “9 to 5” that I sometimes miss – the predictability of a pay check and regular hours. But the benefits of owning your own business definitely outweigh the cons. Read more>>

If you would’ve asked me this year one of my entrepreneurial journey I would’ve told you there’s absolutely nothing I enjoy about being a business owner and I’m ready to throw in the towel. But asking me this today, the answer is yes, I am happier as a business owner. Read more>>

I’m extremely happy as a business owner. Being a director & content creator is a passion of mine. Now there are times where I feel discouraged when business is running slow. I would love to work for KhamenLenz full time but the clientele isn’t consistent enough just yet. I’m not afraid of working a regular job. It comes with pros and cons. If I really need the consistent money then I won’t have a problem working a regular job. Read more>>

Am I a happy business owner? Yes, but a lot of times I am also an exhausted business owner. This is common, entrepreneurship definitely has it’s ups and downs. Being a business owner takes a huge deal of self-motivation. No one is going to tell you to be where, when. No one is going to tell you what time to start work and what time to end it. There are no ‘rules’ you have to abide by. There is no ‘safety’ so say – one month you may sell &10k and up and the next you may sell $500 – and you know why? Read more>>

I am incredibly happy as a business owner, but it can be easy to wobble, and by that, I mean when the rollercoaster is plummeting, it’s easy to question your decisions. I probably question my sanity in choosing to be an independent business owner at least once a month. There are days I miss paid vacations, consistent income and all the perks, but the reality is that the perks of being your own boss, carving your own path and creating your passion are beyond anything anyone else can give you. As a salon owner, I frequently think about what it would be like to be an employee again. I thought about what life was like before the salon opened, back when I was an employee at another salon. I felt overworked, exhausted, and sadly unappreciated. Then I snap back into the present and feel this is my why. I will always remember why I wanted to start this in the first place. Read more>>

The beauty industry is an industry that I would argue evolves quicker and more frequently than most. Who you are as a stylist/business when you graduate school is no where near the person you become one, three, and even five years down the road. Things are forever changing. Lessons are being learned and mistakes are being made constantly. Read more>>

Their are a lot of times I often wish I had a “regular job”. To be able to wake up, Monday-Friday 9-5. Clock in clock out. Once I clock out its my time, my families time. If only being a business owner was that simple. I don’t get to “clock out”. My phone is constantly getting text messages, calls, instagram notifications 24/7! I have to prepare each week, making sure i have the proper color for my up coming clients. Read more>>

Fresh out of high school it seemed like everyone I knew was going to a 4 year, but I craved financial security too much to put myself into student loan debt throughout my 20’s and 30’s. I wanted a career that guarantees stability. So I went on to complete my general ed courses for radiology tech. It wasn’t something I was even a little bit passionate about, but it was only 2 years and I’d have a steady income right out of school. Read more>>

After working for several firms as an architectural designer, I decided it was time to start a family. At the time, creating a flexible work schedule wasn’t an option. I had also watched my mother and grandmother run their own studios all my life and was hoping to do so myself after gaining work experience. I enjoy the autonomy of having my own creative voice, creating my own schedule (creatives need to work outside of office hours- when inspiration strikes) and creating some semblance of work- life balance while doing something I love. Absolutely, yes, I am ecstatic as a business owner. Occasionally, I do think about how life used to be when I just had a regular job. In July 2021 was the last time I had that thought because the industry I am in has it’s ups and downs. Meaning one month various of clients need graphic design services and customers are requesting for custom orders then the next month I can have zero clients and customers. When it is slow, I started stressing and wondering how I am going to keep the business afloat as well as my personal livelihood. Read more>>
