DaKevia, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
During the early months of covid lockdown, I found myself (like many others) discovering new routines in order to get through another day sane and healthy. At the time, I was employed with an essential business so staying home most of the day wasn’t necessarily my normal and I often found myself overwhelmed. A hot bath soak paired with a nice cup of tea suddenly became my favorite part of the day.
It was the night of my six year wedding anniversary and I was bummed that we couldn’t celebrate at a fancy steakhouse as usual, so I opted for takeout and…a hot bath. While soaking and sipping a cup of warm tea, I randomly searched “bath tea”, and discovered that there were benefits of such thing and many cultures consider it a ritual. The more I researched, the more ideas sparked in my mind and my notes app begin to quickly fill up with recipes for both tea to sip and soak in.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am just a girl who wants to encourage others to treat their body as luxury! I spent fifteen years in the supplement/wellness industry and it easily became a natural passion of mine. Becoming a tea business owner has opened up the opportunity for me to share that passion on a personal level and develop products I’m confident are user friendly, cost saving and healing to the body.
TheLuxeTemple provides loose leaf herbal teas for both sip and soak, the goal is to give you a spa experience in your own home. Our herbal teas focus on common illnesses and diseases, which include respiratory and nervous system ailments. The reward for me is knowing that every sip or soak is bringing relief to the person who chooses to indulge in TheLuxeTemple products and transform their health/wellness journey. TheLuxeTemple prides itself on creating blends using 100% organic roots and herbs that are ethically sourced, providing you with whole leaves for your whole body.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Word of mouth and face-to-face interaction at pop-up events. We live in a social media driven society but with so many “rules” or “guidelines”, I find that word of mouth is most beneficial for my business. I enjoy being able to connect and interact with my clients offline, answering any questions in realtime and receiving live feedback/reactions when they sample any products.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
A pivot occurred before I launched TheLuxeTemple, my idea was going to remain an idea or just something I did for myself until I was sought out for alternative methods for healing or relief. I dedicated TheLuxeTemple to the ladies who inspired me to take a leap of faith and try to eliminate herbal healing as last resort but one that can be integrated within a daily lifestyle. Developing TheLuxeTemple brand was my growth through grief, it was my healing journey that I now get to share with you as a reminder to be more mindful, self-aware and treat your body as a luxury gift.
