Hi Tinia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.

I write romance to capture the beauty and passion in multicultural experiences. As a teen, I searched for books that reflected me, only to find a limited, stereotypical selection. I wanted stories that empowered me as a Black woman. Now, as a writer, my goal is to create accessible, empowering books for Black readers and beyond. I aim to challenge stereotypes and provide true representation.

The romance industry has the power to amplify diverse voices—racial, ethnic, gender, and disability identities. By embracing this inclusion, we can reshape how love is depicted and who is seen as worthy of it. Through love, we expand empathy, challenge prejudice, and inspire change.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?

It hasn’t been a smooth road. There have been plenty of bumps along the way. Some of the biggest challenges included finding my voice in a genre that hasn’t always been inclusive, overcoming rejection, and balancing the pressure to create authentic stories with the market’s demands. Navigating the publishing world as a Black woman brought its own set of obstacles, like limited representation and the constant push to fit into narrow categories. But each struggle has pushed me to write stories that matter, fight for visibility, and stay true to my vision.

I’m a romance author with a passion for creating stories that blend cultural depth with heartfelt emotion. I specialize in crafting diverse, multicultural romances that challenge stereotypes and offer authentic representation. My work is known for its rich character development and its commitment to portraying love in all its forms.

I’m most proud of my ability to bring diverse voices and experiences to the forefront of the romance genre, especially as an Indie author. My stories aim to empower readers and provide them with relatable, inspiring characters and show them that black women can be loved. By focusing on genuine representation and breaking away from conventional tropes, I strive to make a meaningful impact on the genre and offer a fresh perspective on romance and hope to inspire someone else to write the story of their heart, like I did.

What was your favorite childhood memory?

One of my favorite childhood memories is visiting the library and getting lost in the shelves of books. I loved exploring different genres and discovering new stories. It was a magical escape and a place where I felt inspired and hopeful about the stories I could one day tell myself and I spent hours there. It was the best place on earth for me.
