Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Joy
Hi Tiffany, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We are a Latin pop singer/songwriter duet called “IndiviDúo” – based out of San Jose, California.
I’m originally from the San Francisco Bay Area and my partner, Maqui, is from Bogotá, Colombia. We were both living in Buenos Aires, Argentina and working on solo albums, when we met at a musical gathering in the city… that was 2010, and we’ve been performing, writing and traveling together ever since.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been a rollercoaster of emotions all set to the soundtrack of the songs we’ve penned over the last decade. From our very first potential record deal falling through in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2011 to being swindled by our record label in Bogotá, Colombia in 2016 to the death of our mentor and producer the morning of the last tour date of our largest ever press tour in 2019 to then all of our business being shut down during the pandemic and finding out we were unexpectedly pregnant with our daughter Melody. Our journey has had all the makings of a nail-biting ‘telenovela’ and i’m sure it’s no where near its end.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We are singers, songwriters, musicians, performers & producers. We are a husband and wife team and parents to a beautiful, brilliant toddler named Melody Joy. We are most widely known for our work as “IndiviDúo” a Latin pop duet that has been writing, touring and performing extensively over the last 14 years.
We compose and produce original music (primarily in Spanish) as well as write songs for TV shows and other artists. We are full time performers – our show mixes original repertoire with unique versions of some of celebrated Latin music hits.
I’d say what we are most proud of is our resilience, consistency and purity of spirit in a truly cutthroat industry and and ever changing landscape of social media trends that can make almost any teenager with an iPhone an “artist.”
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
LA is truly a melting pot of inspiration. It’s alive with possibilities and I have been tempted to live there multiple times in my life but i’m not sure I could stomach the competition. With that being said I absolutely love the diversity and the palpable sensation of ‘that next big thing’ being just around the corner.
