Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Kowalske
Sarah, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have always wanted to use my creativity to improve the quality of people’s lives. I graduated from UW-Stout with a BFA in Interior Design, and I went on to do things like design senior living environments and plan events with Habitat for Humanity.
These days, my heart is in copywriting and content creation. I am especially digging the process of creating digital courses and products!
No matter the medium, my hope is to forge meaningful connections in creative ways.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As simple as it sounds, my biggest struggle has been defining what exactly I want to do.
Like many creatives, it seems like I have a load of new ideas every week! The process of discerning which ideas and projects are right for me right now has been a challenge, to say the least. Getting realistic about my aspirations can be tricky, and I have learned to give myself a lot of grace and flexibility along the way.
One way I’ve gotten more clear on this is by creating and using the Ko-Create Planner! It’s a printable planner that comes with a video tutorial to walk you through the step-by-step process. Essentially, it’s a method of intention-setting, unapologetic daydreaming, and action-driven organzing. There’s lots of encouragement along the way so you can figure out what works best for you. Feel free to check it out if you’re also struggling to define what exactly you want to do!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Copywriting and content creation are my jam!
Specifically, I love creating digital courses for clients so they can share their expertise! My role is to help organize and expand on their thoughts, create a structure for their script, design slide decks and downloadable materials, and then craft a marketing plan to launch the course. It’s a super collaborative process, and I just love helping my clients create a lasting way to connect with the people they serve.
Lately, I’ve been most proud of the Host + Gather online course. It’s an absolute party-planning master class that shows you how to truly celebrate the people you love! I had SO much fun creating this with The Uncommon Creative Studio.

I’ve also been experimenting with creating digital products for my company, Koala Creative! We recently launched the Homepage Printable Coloring Book. Think of it like the Paper Doll concept – but for interior design! You download printable pages of blank rooms and decor items like fireplaces, lighting, sofas, area rugs, and so on. You get to design and color your own space, and you can print the whole thing as many times as you’d like!
So check out the Homepage Coloring Book, and have some fun with it! https://www.koalacreativellc.com/blog/the-homepage-coloring-book
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
For me, the Covid-19 crisis drove home the importance of being flexibile and open-minded in how I approach my work. Ultimately, I think it was a stark reminder that we need to be willing to adapt and evolve, especially in times of uncertainty.
More than anything, I was able to get clear on what’s truly most important to me – spending time with loved ones, prioritizing health and wellbeing, supporting those around me as much as I can, and caring for my mental health. When everything gets disrupted, these are the things that matter the most.
