Today we’d like to introduce you to Riccardo Barletta
Hi Riccardo, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always been drawn to music, even though no one in my family played an instrument. In elementary school, I saw a classmate learning to read sheet music during recess, and I thought it was the coolest thing ever (yes, I know, I was a bit of a strange kid). That moment sparked something in me, and I decided to enroll in a local music school to learn an instrument. Over the years, I explored various instruments, played in rock bands and orchestras, but it wasn’t until high school that I discovered the world of music production. I instantly fell in love with the ability to create sounds and textures, and that passion led me to where I am today—making music for advertisements, TV shows, and trailers.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The music industry is definitely not an easy one to break into, and the world of sync music licensing (music is synchronized to media) is especially competitive. It took years of hard work, dedication, and constant collaboration before I landed my first TV placement. Fortunately, my family has always been incredibly supportive, and I was able to lean on them during the early stages of my career.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As I mentioned in the previous email, I specialize in sync music, which means I create music tailored for TV shows, commercials, and film trailers. I’ve been fortunate to have several placements throughout my career, but some of my proudest moments include my music being featured in ad campaigns for major brands like Apple, Subway, Hyundai, and Genesis.
What sets me apart is the balance I strike between intentionality and creativity. When I create or collaborate, my goal is always to craft music that enhances a scene or aligns with a brand’s sonic identity, without sacrificing the authenticity of the artist. This approach allows me to produce genuine artist tracks that also serve as highly effective tools for brands
What does success mean to you?
Personally, I define success as being able to do what I love every day. I’m not chasing accolades or awards—though they’re always nice when they come. For me, the real success lies in having the freedom to create music every day. Everything else is just a bonus.
