Today we’d like to introduce you to René Bagwandeen.
Hi René, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey into graphic design started unexpectedly with a simple project—I created a custom chip bag for my aunt. At the time, I had no idea that small moment would spark a passion that would grow into my business, RenéGraphicsStudio. Intrigued by design, I started watching YouTube tutorials, experimenting, and practicing whenever I could. What started as a fun hobby quickly turned into something more when people began reaching out for custom designs.
As a self-taught designer, I pushed myself to learn and improve, and over time, I realized that I had a real opportunity to help business owners, especially in the beauty industry, establish a strong brand identity. I noticed that many talented entrepreneurs struggled with branding simply because they lacked professional visuals that truly represented their business. That’s when I knew I wanted to change that.
Today, I specialize in branding, social media graphics, logo design, and more, helping beauty service providers like nail techs, lash artists, hairstylists, and estheticians create cohesive and professional brand identities. What sets me apart is my approach—I don’t just design something and send it off. I take the time to understand what my clients need, even if they aren’t sure what they want. I focus on creating designs that not only look great but also help my clients attract more customers and grow their businesses.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey hasn’t always been easy. Like any entrepreneur, I’ve faced my fair share of challenges. Being a self-taught graphic designer meant I had to invest a lot of time into learning, experimenting, and refining my skills without formal training. In the beginning, I struggled with imposter syndrome, wondering if my work was good enough compared to more experienced designers.
Another major hurdle was managing client expectations. Many business owners knew they needed branding but weren’t always sure what they wanted, which made communication and revisions a learning process. I had to develop patience and learn how to guide clients toward a vision that truly aligned with their brand.
Balancing everything as a solo designer was also tough—handling inquiries, creating designs, marketing my business, and staying organized all at once. There were moments when I felt overwhelmed, but I knew that consistency and persistence were key.
Despite the obstacles, every challenge has been a learning experience that’s helped me grow both creatively and professionally. Now, I’m more confident in my skills, my process, and the value I bring to my clients. The road may not have been smooth, but every bump along the way has shaped me into the designer I am today.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We’d love to learn more about your work. What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc.? What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
I’m a graphic designer and the person behind RenéGraphicsStudio. I help business owners, especially in the beauty industry, like nail techs, hairstylists, lash artists, and estheticians, create strong brand identities that look professional and consistent. I specialize in branding, logo design, social media graphics, and website design.
What I’m most proud of is seeing how my work helps my clients grow their businesses. Whether it’s a logo that makes them feel like their business is finally real or a flyer that gets them more bookings, it’s rewarding to know that my designs are making a difference.
What sets me apart is that I don’t just send a design and call it a day. I really take the time to understand what my clients need, even if they aren’t sure themselves. My focus is on creating designs that not only look good but also help my clients connect with more people and grow their businesses.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is helping my clients feel confident in their brand. I believe that a strong and professional brand identity can make all the difference in how a business is perceived and how successful it can be. It’s important to me that my designs not only look good but also give my clients the clarity and confidence they need to grow their business and stand out in their industry. Seeing them thrive and knowing I played a part in that success is what drives me every day.
