Today we’d like to introduce you to Rashida Nelson
Rashida, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born into a Jamaican Christian household. Eventually, my parents started a ministry, and I was raised as a pastor’s kid. Despite what I observed from them, I had to start my own journey and find Christ for myself.
I began by writing a list of what I believed because of my experiences and personal encounters versus what I believed because of what I was taught. Over time, God allowed me to meet different people who shifted me from mindlessly practising religion to having a relationship with Him, revealing who He truly is.
It’s been a journey of discovering Christ, which has led me to discover myself. Like peeling an onion, there’s always another layer with something new to uncover. Finding truth started me on this path of discovery, and now I’m committed to being a lifelong learner and encouraging others to do the same.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not. I struggled a lot with condemnation. I had to unlearn the belief that I am defined by my actions and that my salvation depends on my good behavior. It was difficult to wrap my mind around the truth of God’s love—that He loves me so much that He died for me, knowing I would fail Him again. It was hard to believe that someone could love you so much to forgive you for your past, present, and future sins (Romans 5:8). Unlearning was the hardest part because you’re taught to believe certain things so deeply that every part of you is convinced it’s the truth. It takes time to reconcile that not everything you were taught was correct.
It wasn’t just self-condemnation; I also faced condemnation and judgment from others. As I learned new things and discovered Christ for myself, not everyone agreed or believed the same way I did. Learning not to take their opinions to heart, but to measure my beliefs against the word of God (Galatians 1:10), was challenging. However, it taught me character and to stand firm in my beliefs, even when they weren’t popular.
I also realized that their ignorance wasn’t malicious; they did the best they could and taught what they believed was correct. Their ceiling is my floor. Each generation should further our advancement. Understanding that their teachings were limited by their own understanding, I am grateful for their foundation but committed to going further. My journey has shown me that true growth comes from a continuous pursuit of knowledge and deeper faith.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Professionally, I recently made the exciting shift from maternity to pediatric nursing, where I blend my passion for caregiving with a deep commitment to nurturing young lives. Beyond nursing, I’m also an entrepreneur driven by creativity and a desire to inspire others. Last year, I launched my first product—a devotional planner and journal designed to help integrate faith into daily life.
My specialty lies in organization and planning. Whether it’s creating efficient schedules, coordinating events, or optimizing personal spaces, I thrive on developing practical systems that enhance productivity and well-being. I’m dedicated to equipping people with tools that empower them to navigate life with clarity and purpose.
What truly fulfills me is seeing individuals confidently pursue their callings. Whether through nursing care or creative projects, I find joy in helping others break through barriers and embrace their potential in Christ. It’s about fostering an environment where everyone can thrive and discover their unique purpose.
Currently, I’m also working on exciting new projects that build on my passion for creativity and faith. These endeavors aim to further empower and inspire individuals in their journey of personal growth and spiritual development.
Known for my multifaceted approach, I refuse to confine myself to a single niche. My diverse experiences shape everything I do, emphasizing the integration of faith, creativity, and practicality in all aspects of life.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I’ve been fortunate to encounter many supportive people along my journey, too many to name them all. However, a few stand out. Firstly, my soon-to-be husband, Michael, has been a constant source of encouragement and prayer. His unwavering support fuels my passion, especially during moments of self-doubt. He reminds me of God’s promises and never lets me shrink back from pursuing my dreams.
Secondly, my sister Marie plays a pivotal role in my professional life through her company, Royal Executive Assistance, and its sister companies under its umbrella. Their support has been crucial in keeping things organized and ensuring my workflow runs smoothly. Marie’s company is dedicated to supporting businesses in every imaginable way, and I highly recommend her services. Even in creating my 2024 devotional planner and journal, Marie and her team were instrumental in its success.
Additionally, I’ve been spiritually enriched by many mentors and teachers over the years, some of whom I’ve never met in person. Thanks to technology, I’ve been able to learn from people across the country. Their wisdom and guidance have profoundly shaped my journey and deepened my faith.
These supportive relationships—whether personal or professional—have played a significant role in my success and the growth of my endeavours. I’m grateful for each person who has believed in me and contributed to my journey.
