Today we’d like to introduce you to Rania Stone
Hi Rania, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey has been an exciting blend of creativity and passion. Growing up, I had no idea what I wanted to do. Since I enjoyed cooking, I initially went to cooking school. However, I soon realized that my strengths were in management, so I pursued studies in hotel management.
For nearly 20 years, I ran a successful wholesale/import company. Meanwhile, I was also trying to establish myself as an author in Greece. Unfortunately, publishers told me that my chances of success here were slim. as I am a woman writing thrillers and my target audience would be Europeans and North Americans, not Greeks. This challenge didn’t deter me, though. My passion for storytelling persisted, and I eventually teamed up with my husband, Jonas Saul, a Canadian best-selling author. Together, we create thrilling tales that captivate readers.
Our love for storytelling naturally extended into Imagine Greece Retreats. We organize immersive retreats in the beautiful island of Amorgos, blending relaxation, adventure, and creativity. We offer a variety of retreats, from yoga to writing and reading, catering to those who seek both inspiration and tranquility. While I was born and raised in Athens, my deep connection to Amorgos comes from my parents, who hail from this enchanting island. This allows me to share its hidden gems and authentic experiences with our guests.
Seeing our guests transform, find inspiration, and create lasting memories is incredibly fulfilling. It’s not just about the retreats; it’s about fostering a sense of community and connection, whether through the written word or shared experiences on a beautiful Greek island.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges was the transition from running a wholesale/import company to breaking into the literary world, especially in a market that wasn’t very receptive at first. Hearing that I wouldn’t make it as an author in Greece was disheartening, but it fueled my determination to succeed.
Despite these struggles, the journey has been incredibly rewarding. Each obstacle has taught me valuable lessons and strengthened my resolve. Seeing our guests leave with unforgettable memories and renewed inspiration makes all the hard work worthwhile.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
When it comes to my writing, I love to think of twists that no one can figure out. My writing voice is unique, reflecting my Greek heritage, and many of my books are set in modern Greece. This gives my stories a distinctive flavor and authenticity that readers appreciate.
As for Imagine Greece Retreats, my Greek heritage plays a crucial role. I ensure that every guest experiences the rich culture of Greece and leaves with a luggage full of memories and excitement. Our retreats are not just about relaxation and activities; they are about immersing our guests in the true essence of Greek life. From local cuisine to hidden spots only a local would know, we offer an authentic experience that sets us apart from others.
I am most proud of the impact our retreats have on our guests. Seeing them transform, connect with each other, and embrace the beauty of Greece is incredibly fulfilling. It’s the personal touch and deep cultural connection that make our retreats truly special.
What matters most to you? Why?
Sure! Here’s the response to the final question:
—
**Interviewer:** What matters most to you? Why?
**Rania Stone:** What matters most to me is seeing smiles on people’s faces. When I see our guests genuinely happy and enjoying themselves, I feel I have achieved my goal. Life is too short to have bad memories, and I want to ensure that everyone leaves with a luggage full of joy and unforgettable experiences. This fulfillment drives everything I do, from writing books with unexpected twists to organizing culturally rich retreats in Greece.
