Today we’d like to introduce you to Nichole Meyer.
Hi Nichole , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hello everyone! My name is Nichole Meyer, and I’m thrilled to share a bit about my journey and my business, Clever Social, a social media agency I started to help small businesses thrive online. My path began with a big move from West Palm Beach, FL to the buzzing city of Chicago, IL. I craved a career in media, and it wasn’t long before I landed my first role as a Freelance Social Media Coordinator for a political campaign here in Chicago. This experience sparked my passion for social media, and I quickly realized that I wanted to create something of my own—a business that would empower other small businesses to achieve their goals.
At Clever Social, I pour my heart into crafting custom social media strategies that not only increase reach and engagement but also foster real community for my clients. I’m deeply committed to making social media feel accessible and understandable for the small business owners I work with. I believe that when clients understand the ‘why’ behind our strategies, they feel more connected to their own brand’s online presence.
My journey hasn’t always been easy. I lost both of my parents before I turned 22, and I was determined not to let my circumstances define me. I didn’t want to be another statistic; I wanted to build a life and career I could be proud of. That determination fuels my passion for helping other small businesses grow and succeed, knowing firsthand the impact that resilience and hard work can have.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s safe to say it hasn’t been a smooth road—far from it! Like many who start their own small business, I’ve faced my share of challenges. Financial struggles, imposter syndrome, and the constant question of whether I was making the right decisions were all part of my journey, especially in the early days of building Clever Social.
Imposter syndrome, in particular, has been a recurring obstacle. Even now, as my business grows and I see the tangible impact of my work, those moments of self-doubt still creep in. But I’ve learned to use them as a reminder of how much I care about what I do and as motivation to keep pushing forward.
The journey hasn’t been easy, but every hurdle has taught me something valuable—whether it’s resilience, the importance of trusting myself, or the power of asking for help when I need it. These lessons have made me a stronger entrepreneur and a more empathetic partner to my clients as they navigate their own challenges.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At Clever Social, I specialize in helping small businesses build authentic, thriving social media presences. As a Social Media Specialist and the founder of Clever Social, my focus is on creating custom strategies that not only increase reach, engagement, and followers but also foster real community. Social media is more than just posting content—it’s about building relationships and turning followers into loyal brand advocates.
What I’m most proud of is the communities I’ve been able to create for my clients. A successful social media presence isn’t just about numbers; it’s about meaningful connections. Knowing that I’ve helped my clients build loyal followers and passionate brand advocates is what fuels my work every day.
What sets me apart is how much I care. I’m deeply committed to my clients and value open communication above all else. My clients never have to worry about being left in the dark—I’m here for them every step of the way, valuing their opinions and ensuring their social media truly reflects who they are. I also make it a priority to empower my clients by educating them on social media strategies so they feel confident and in control of their online presence.
In short, Clever Social isn’t just about managing accounts—it’s about making social media accessible, impactful, and deeply personal for every business I work with.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My advice goes out to all entrepreneurs, especially those navigating the challenges of grief or hardship: it’s okay to take a break. As entrepreneurs, we often feel like we have to conquer the world, but the truth is, that taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking care of your business.
When I first started my career, I poured everything I had into building my business, often at the expense of my own well-being. While dedication is vital, I’ve learned that finding a balance between your work and yourself is essential. Prioritize your mental health—it’s not a sign of weakness, but a cornerstone of long-term success.
To the entrepreneurs who feel like their circumstances define their dreams: they don’t. You are capable of achieving anything you set your mind to. The things that have happened to you may shape your story, but they do not define who you are or what you can accomplish. You can rise above any obstacle, and your dreams are worth pursuing.
Remember, the journey isn’t about being perfect—it’s about progress, perseverance, and showing yourself grace along the way.
