Today we’d like to introduce you to Nia Dinero
Hi Nia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Of course, my career began in 2010 at Norfolk State University as one half of the male/female duo “Dreamz2Dinero”. We coined our sound as “Hip-Pop”, a label I still embrace today. Transitioning to a solo career in 2015, I continued to seize every opportunity, build strong relationships, evolve artistically, and carve out my own authentic path.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Just like any road trip, not every part of the journey is smooth sailing. I see my journey as akin to climbing a mountain – some parts are breathtaking and exhilarating, pushing me beyond my limits. Yet, there are also rocky stretches where I might need to pause in a village for support. The key is to keep going, staying connected to my “WHY” while enjoying the scenery from start to finish. While everyone’s “Why” is unique, I’ve come to understand that life is about the journey, not the destination.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Drawing on my experiences and talents, I deliver a diverse blend of lyrical finesse and advocacy, characterized by boldness, sophistication, and excellence.
My music, boasting over 85,000 views on YouTube, has found resonance on top DMV radio stations like 93.9 WKYS and WPGC 95.5. In 2022, I was featured on DMV’s “Great Day Washington” and graced the stage at the Smithsonian Anthology of Hip Hop and Rap’s first anniversary at the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, DC. Recently, I was honored as the 2024 “Who Rocks Next” artist for the esteemed “Black Girls Rock” Movement, performing worldwide at the Kennedy Center.
From advocating for Women in Hip-Pop at the Kennedy Center to becoming a member of the 2023 Recording Academy New Member Class and serving as a brand ambassador for the nonprofit Free Flow Movement, dedicated to addressing menstrual hygiene management, I proudly continue to move in faith while pursuing my purpose with creativity and originality.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t believe in luck. As a woman of God, I truly believe that what God has in store for me will be. With that same understanding, I acknowledge that I have the power to make things easier or more difficult for myself. Naturally, when I encounter setbacks or disappointments in life or in this industry, it can take a toll on me mentally or emotionally. However, in this business, I’ve learned to be grateful for closed doors, knowing that the right one will eventually open. “We prepare for what we believe in,” so what has helped me the most is the combination of faith and preparation meeting opportunity, leading to success.
