Today we’d like to introduce you to Marra Avery-drayton
Hi Marra, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey into entrepreneurship began with a decision to leave behind the toxicity of corporate life and undesirable leadership. Taking a leap of faith, I quit my job, launched my LLC, and headed from New York all the way to the West Coast in just 30 days.
My background spans advertising, photography, marketing psychology, and graphic design. Years of crafting brand identities for small businesses, combined with my journey to obtain a Bachelor’s in Graphic Communications, revealed a new path for me. I realized I could forge a career in helping passionate businesses thrive while being my own boss.
I’m grateful that through it all, I found a career that utilized every skill I had acquired over the years, creating the perfect fit for me.
Now, my mission is clear and close to my heart: I want to empower other women to break free from corporate constraints and find their footing in the world of entrepreneurship. Beyond just design, I aim to offer support and guidance, helping them create businesses that not only sustain themselves but also provide the freedom and fulfillment they deserve.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Navigating the obstacles and challenges of owning your own business can sometimes feel like an endless journey. Yet, it’s precisely these obstacles that create monumental growth and are essential for building a successful business. As a business owner, you’ll encounter a myriad of trials and errors, discovering what works best for you and carving out a unique path to success.
Along the way, you’ll face not only challenges directly related to your business but also unexpected personal hardships that significantly impact your ability to run your business effectively. Since embarking on my entrepreneurial journey, I’ve confronted various personal struggles, from suddenly losing my home to taking on the responsibility of caring for my disabled parents. Additionally, I’ve experienced the discomfort of parting ways with ill-fitting clients and the setbacks of failed business expansion attempts.
Each obstacle I’ve encountered has played a pivotal role in shaping me into the resilient entrepreneur I am today. Every lesson learned has been instrumental in the success I’ve achieved thus far.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?

Throughout the process, it’s more than just a professional relationship; it’s about building a lasting connection. Clients can rely on my guidance and support as they uncover the true essence of their brand and watch it flourish.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
In my early years, curiosity was my closest companion. I found myself drawn to understanding the reasons behind people’s actions and emotions. Growing up in a household where creativity and psychology intertwined, courtesy of my mother’s fine art background and my father’s career in behavioral psychology, I was exposed to an endless exposure of influences that have shaped the path I walk today.
