Maria, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey started in childhood, first with dance at 7 years old and then singing at 10, which led me to join a girls’ group and step into the world of performing arts. Over time, I expanded into acting and filmmaking, which gave me a deeper understanding of storytelling and creative expression.
These experiences shaped my career, allowing me to combine my passion for performance with event planning and creative projects. Acting has helped me connect with audiences on an emotional level, while my filmmaking background gives me a unique perspective on visual storytelling.
Today, I work as a performer, actor, event planner, and creative artist, collaborating with talented professionals and organizations like NYU Journalism to produce meaningful events and entertainment projects. My goal is to continue creating experiences that bring people together, inspire, and leave a lasting impact.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My road has never been smooth. Even though I had a lot of support, it was a difficult path. In the earlier days, there weren’t many resources for artists, making it much harder to build an audience. Later, platforms like Instagram, YouTube, and other social media made it easier, but when I moved to the U.S., I had to start from scratch.
Being a foreign artist while learning a new language and building a life was incredibly challenging, but it shaped me into the person and professional I am today.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a performer, singer, actor, event planner, and creative artist passionate about storytelling and bringing people together. I specialize in creating immersive experiences through performance, acting, and event production, using my background in filmmaking to craft visually and emotionally impactful moments.
I’m most proud of my ability to build connections and opportunities, especially after moving to the U.S. and starting from scratch while learning a new language. Now, I collaborate with talented professionals, including NYU Journalism, to bring creative projects to life.
What sets me apart is my ability to balance multiple roles while staying true to my artistic vision, ensuring every project is meaningful, engaging, and unforgettable.
What makes you happy?
I try to find joy and happiness in simple things every day. Being a mom is always full of new experiences, and my kids bring so much meaning to my life. My creative work, making music, dancing, staying healthy, and simply having the opportunity to live and experience life each day are what truly fulfill me. Above all, I strive to stay grateful for everything I have.
