Today we’d like to introduce you to Maria De Los Angeles Horigome
Hi Maria de los Angeles, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
“I am Maria de los Angeles Horigome. Australian Songwriter, Composer and Publisher Known as the Recording Artist, Mia Muze.
I am Tokyo born, spent the first years of life in Buenos Aires before arriving in Australia. Raised in Sydney, I was an excellent achiever as a Youth, having held many accomplishments. I ran my First Event ‘ a Rural Relief Variety Show’ aged 14 years, and Year in my Senior Year, was the Editor of myHigh School Newspaper, ‘Kirribilli Views’.
I tended to do business and fashion though always felt I had a quiet aptitude for music. Aged four, I composed a marevelously long song on cassette – in Spanish. My first dream was to sing.
A primary school disco experience gifted me with a cassette tape of samples. “Recently the death of John Blackman, Australian comedian and writer makes me reflect on what things influenced me in music. He was in my generation, the original Sound Guy, with all the sounds and voices that helped make television great.”
After concluding work as a Level 2 Finance Consultant in Retail Banking, I finally decided to give myself time to do what I had always hoped for. So I applied for entry in Popular Music and obtained a Bachelor of Popular Music. I spent so much time in the studios. And came out one of the countries few Female Producers.
The love of sound samples, mixed with the experimentalism of Gen X during the internet expansion allowed me the ability to sit down and create my own music. Which I needed if I wanted to sing. Writing a song and creating music became a part of the process.
I launched in 2006, on Brisbane’s East Side and the musical journey officially began.
Upon a willful and inspired relationship that was built between the Artist, Mia Muze and the United States – what came was a two decade storytelling of society, culture and art. Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
“Challenges and lack of road smoothness becomes the absolute norm when pursuing such endeavours as what is seen as success in artistry, as well as also trying to contribute that thing to the community that they so cherish.. good Art. In my case Music, and then the Art behind or beside the music. ”
It is safe to say that the whole way through a career, Maria de los Angeles Horigome has faced numerous challenges, and despite immensely complicated challenges continues to adapt and overcome all. It is one of her super powers perhaps. “I am not so much proud of myself, as satisfied with the volume of my work at least. There is more music to be made, more creation to attend to. It is now just circumstantial of my existence. Everytime, I have thought that I might quit in the past, someone would come to me and ask me to connect them to my creations. I realised a while ago that making music and media isn’t just a responsibility, but it’s an important function in society. ”

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
“There are plenty of factors that I feel are strong factors in my successes. Things that I think contribute to this version of success is my ability to deal with anything that comes at me, and aptitude in communications, creation plus my interpretations and connections to culture. A music teacher from Mosman High I had once, called Mr Longhurst encouraged me to perform music. An Officer, when I was doing work experience, aged 16 at HMAS Platypus. He gave me a great reference, and at that time – I thought about Music.
Ultimately though, I think that the reason I can be considered to have any success is the quality of my creations unique forms of art and expression of everything within the realm of light to dark. At this point in my journey, I really no longer feel that it is a choice for me to continue doing what I do. It’s just, what I must.
My parents are highly intelligent and skilled who raised me to act with dignity in business. They both gave me a strong musical appreciation. My Mother was at a time a Professional Singer and my Dad, was a Melbourne Club Owner in the 70s, when Australian Rock music in VIC was at it’s height. My fascination of Urban qualities, art and influences at home are really what gave me a musical identity. ”
Yes, Influence has something to do with it. Aptitude also. Maria de los Angeles Horigome has been a born and bred winner and then created her own race, which she runs with insight and successes. Ten million situations have arisen to knock Maria off her cloud, and each time she has dusted herself off and built up again.
The fact remains that the music industry is one of the most difficult to succeed or exist within, in the world. Maria de los Angeles Horigome does not let another’s standard or expectation keep her from her mission. The reason this woman continues to succeed is apparent and is clearly endurance with aptitude. Having experienced life in the mountains, this Artist travelled between this landscape to the Beaches and Bush of her Homeland of Australia.
