Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsay Hua.
Hi Lindsay, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My professional journey began in 2002, when I graduated Cum Laude from Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines with a degree in Management Engineering. With a heart full of ambition and a mind sharpened by rigorous study, I took my first step into the corporate world at Procter & Gamble. There, as a Systems Analyst, I dove into the intricate web of global systems for Shipment, Finance, and Market Measurement.
A pivotal moment came when P&G’s IT department was acquired by Hewlett-Packard Enterprise. Embracing this transition, I became a Service Delivery Manager, leading global accounts in Product Lifecycle Management and Lights-On Services. Managing a diverse team of up to 45 members across different continents, I was honored with the HP Excellence Award, a recognition of our collective drive and innovation. This role also took me from the Philippines to Cincinnati, Ohio, where I continued to lead teams spanning the Philippines, India, Costa Rica, Canada, Ireland, and Poland, navigating the challenges of global leadership with determination and grace.
In 2011, my path led me to Seattle and T-Mobile, where I started as a Senior Manager in Software Development. What began as managing over 50 billing system resources soon escalated into my most ambitious project to date: a billion-dollar program overseeing 10 cross-functional workstreams, impacting over 1,500 resources and 50+ systems. This journey not only marked a significant milestone in my career but also earned me prestigious accolades, including the CIO Excellence Award and the Multiverse Award.
However, 2020 brought unforeseen challenges. The pandemic, coupled with the T-Mobile and Sprint merger, led to role redundancies, including mine. Seizing the opportunity for a fresh start, I ventured into the realm of emerging technologies. Through my network, I discovered Afiniti, an AI/ML software company, and joined as VP of Global Deployment. Fueled by my passion for advancing women in STEM, I also took on the role of Head of Diversity in Technology, where I champion Diversity, Equity, and Belonging initiatives to empower the next generation of innovators.
Beyond my professional endeavors, I serve as a board member for Ignite Worldwide, dedicated to enhancing STEM education for young girls and gender-diverse youth, and the World Affairs Council – Seattle, which fosters global citizenship. I am proud to where I am now, being able to contribute to both our company and the broader community. My journey is a testament to courage, growth, and a relentless pursuit of making a meaningful impact in the world.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My career journey has been anything but straightforward. Climbing the career ladder, I often had to prove my capabilities, even while already executing the roles expected of me. In the early days, despite holding an individual contributor title, I was effectively leading a team of 30. My efforts to lead and inspire were clear, yet my manager hesitated to promote me, citing my “youth” as a barrier.
Determined to prove my worth, I pursued a managerial role outside the company. The offer I received was not only for the position I aspired to but also came with a compelling compensation package. As I prepared to resign, my manager finally recognized my contributions and extended a counteroffer. Although the acknowledgment came a bit late, I chose to stay, driven by my commitment to the high-performing team I had cultivated.
As I advanced into senior leadership, new challenges emerged. Being one of the few women at the executive table and a first-generation immigrant added layers of complexity. Navigating cultural differences while striving to maintain my voice and contribute meaningfully required constant internal battles. Each day, I faced the fear of being overshadowed or dismissed, grappling with impostor syndrome amidst leaders with more experience. I found myself asking, “How did I get here? Do I truly belong?”
Despite these hurdles, my resolve remained steadfast. I continued to push boundaries, share my insights, and make my mark. My journey is a testament to perseverance, breaking through barriers, and finding my place against the odds.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?

Through these efforts, I actively contribute to both local and international communities, striving to create a more equitable technological landscape.
My passion extends to my advisory roles on the boards of Ignite Worldwide and the World Affairs Council – Seattle. In these positions, I offer strategic guidance, infuse new perspectives, and help drive membership and advocacy for their missions. Both organizations share a similar goal to provide education and global opportunities to young girls and non-binary youth. By opening doors to these transformative experiences, we’re inspiring the next generation to reach higher in their education and careers, paving the way for their future success.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
There’s a profound joy in being surrounded by those I cherish and trust—my family and close friends. In their presence, I am liberated to be my true, authentic self, without the weight of judgment. It’s a comforting reminder that we are all simply human, each of us prone to mistakes and moments of regret, especially when driven by impulse or emotional highs. In these vulnerable times, my loved ones are my rock, providing a steady anchor and a safe space where I can freely express myself and find solace.
New experiences also bring a special kind of happiness into my life. I relish the thrill of traveling to new countries, where each journey offers a fresh perspective and unforgettable encounters – like trekking up to Mt. Everest Base Camp! Hosting foreign exchange students to stay with my family is particularly rewarding; it’s like opening a window into different cultures and forging connections that transcend borders. Each story shared, each tradition learned enriches my life and deepens my understanding of the world.
Giving back is another source of profound fulfillment for me. There’s a distinct feeling of richness that comes from dedicating myself to the service of others. It’s not just about making a difference; it’s about the personal growth and joy that come from contributing to something greater than myself. My philanthropic efforts are fueled by a deep empathy and understanding of what it’s like to be underrepresented. Supporting minorities and advocating for inclusivity has been a transformative experience. It’s incredibly rewarding to help others feel heard, valued, and included, knowing that my actions contribute to creating a more equitable and compassionate world.
In every aspect of my life—whether through cherished relationships, thrilling new experiences, or impactful service—there’s a profound sense of purpose and happiness. Each moment spent nurturing these connections and contributing to the well-being of others adds a richness to my life that I find deeply fulfilling.
