Today we’d like to introduce you to Kisha Edmunds.
Hi Kisha, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’d say my story began in young childhood, my memory takes me to the age of 2/3 years old. Which consequently is the age I would meet the very person who put my life on the trajectory it has been in since. I endured so much so young and it is that little girl within that has gotten me where I am today. Her cries grew louder as I got older until I could not ignore it any longer. My resilience, strength, bravery, courage and willingness to help others stemmed from there.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
To the world outside of me, yes it was. Internally, I struggled immensely. I grew up impoverished and was raised by individuals who sought my compliance to remain silent to the abuse I experienced by their actions. Being programmed to live a life where my abuser was respected and to be loved caused conflict not only mentally, but emotionally.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Absolutely! I am an Educator and newly published Author who has a passion for helping others. I have always loved learning, and I find tremendous joy and fulfillment in being able to share my knowledge and skills with others. It’s really inspiring to have developed skills that stem from my personality.
I am the creator of Kisha’s Legacy, an online platform and community where I share my personal story of triumph. By being vulnerable with my audience while also educating them on the affects of trauma when unaddressed. I am most proud of myself for not allowing the weight of my circumstances; whether I asked for them or not to deter me from making some kind of impact.
What sets me apart would be why I became an educator and my interest in humanity. I love learning about people and with that you learn how to communicate to all people. So using education as my form of “language” I pride myself on being able to convey information no matter how complex to anyone who is willing to receive it.
Any big plans?
My hopes for the future is that I plan for the future. I have spent majority of my life surviving that I am now reaching a place where I can mentally prepare for what’s next. I encourage the reader to follow my platform to see the growth and process I strive for daily.
There is one BIG change but I can’t speak publicly … yet.
