Today we’d like to introduce you to Ke’sha Dennis
Hi Ke’sha, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my journey as a college graduate working at one of the top hospitals in Oakland, California. While it was a great opportunity, I quickly realized that the job lacked the flexibility and freedom I craved. I wanted more control over my time, especially as I was raising my daughters. That’s when I was offered a chance to invest in myself by joining a tax company. At first, it seemed like a good move, but after just one tax season, I recognized that I wasn’t truly passionate about the work. Instead, I saw an opportunity to take the next step and went into business for myself. That’s when I founded Upscale Tax Professionals.
Starting my own business gave me the freedom I had been longing for. It allowed me to manage my time and still be present for my family. But beyond that, it also gave me the financial resources to explore other ventures that were closer to my heart. While taxes have never been my true passion, they funded other endeavors that allowed me to make a greater impact on people’s lives.
One of those ventures is Etiquette Empress, a platform that empowers women to reconnect with their Divine Feminine Energy. It teaches women how to release the masculine fight-or-flight energy that often holds them back, helping them heal while embracing their authentic selves to step into their full potential as a Divine Feminine. Through Lady Buzz Conversations That Create Movement, a nonprofit organization, I created a safe space for people to come together, heal, and thrive within their community.
My most recent project is my podcast, Air It Out!, where I tackle sensitive topics that are often ignored but have a lasting impact on families and communities. I aim to create open conversations that can break cycles of generational trauma and spark positive change. Each of these endeavors is a reflection of my passion for helping others, and they all stem from the freedom I gained by stepping into entrepreneurship. It’s been a transformative journey, one that has evolved beyond just business and into a mission to uplift, empower, and create space for others to thrive.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, the road has certainly not been smooth. The journey has been filled with challenges that have shaped me in profound ways. One of the most difficult realizations was noticing how authenticity is often undervalued in today’s world. Many people, burdened by their own trauma and struggles, would project their self-hate onto me, sometimes even betraying me or attempting to tarnish my character. I’ve experienced the pain of building teams, only to have some of those very people turn against me, driven by jealousy or a desire to destroy what I had worked so hard to build.
These experiences taught me some invaluable lessons. I learned that words alone don’t define people, it’s their actions that reveal their true intentions. I also came to understand that true elevation often requires separation. Not everyone can come with you on your journey, and some people are meant to leave for a reason. Through all of this, I learned to put my trust fully in God. I came to understand that when I trust God, He will remove those who don’t have my best interests at heart, even if it’s painful in the moment.
While these struggles were difficult, I am grateful for each one because they taught me resilience and discernment. I no longer feel burdened by the weight of those who weren’t meant to stay. Now, I am free from those hindrances, and I am excited about what the future holds. I know that with God’s guidance, I’m on the right path, and I’m ready to embrace all that’s in store for me. My journey has made me stronger, wiser, and more committed to my mission, and I’m confident that greater things are ahead.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What sets me apart in my work is my deep intuition and vision for future projects and life events. I’ve always had the unique ability to live simultaneously in the past, present, and future. This perspective allows me to not only understand where people have been but also to see where they can go. I have a gift for reading others’ potential and recognizing the hidden gems within them. I specialize in helping people unlock their own power and potential, guiding them toward their true purpose, whether through my work with Etiquette Empress, Lady Buzz Conversations That Create Movement, or my podcast Air It Out!.
I am most proud of the impact I’ve made in helping women reconnect with their Divine Feminine Energy and empowering individuals to break free from generational trauma. Through these platforms, I’ve been able to plant seeds in others that will grow and flourish when the right tools are provided for their success. However, what I’ve learned is that while I can inspire and offer guidance, I can’t make anyone see the power they possess unless they recognize it within themselves. I give people the “glasses” to see their potential, they just have to choose to put them on.
What makes my work unique is not just my ability to help people envision a better future for themselves but also my intuitive approach to guiding them. I know that true transformation comes when individuals are ready, and I focus on providing them with the support, tools, and insights they need to make their own empowered decisions. I take pride in being a catalyst for that change, planting the seeds that, when nurtured, lead to personal growth and self-discovery.
Ultimately, what sets me apart is this blend of intuition, vision, and an unwavering belief in the potential within every person. I don’t just help others; I show them how to help themselves, and that is what truly drives my work.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was always a bit different, and I think my early years were the first clues that I was wired a little differently than other kids. As a preschooler, my mother was often called to school because I moved at my own pace and preferred to do things my way. There was this particular puzzle that no one else could figure out except for me. Not even the teachers or other kids could solve it, and that’s when my mom realized that my brain functioned in a unique way. I was always drawn to challenges and enjoyed thinking in a way that wasn’t typical for my age.
In elementary school, I was placed in many gifted and talented programs, which further fueled my curiosity and love for learning. I had a wide circle of friends, and I thrived in a diverse environment. Growing up in Berkeley, California, gave me the opportunity to explore a variety of interests. I immersed myself in arts, dance, math, science, gardening, and English. There was always something new to learn and discover, and I loved the freedom to explore my many passions. Diversity was also a big part of my life, and I genuinely enjoyed being around people from different backgrounds and cultures. This openness to different perspectives helped shape who I am today.
As I entered my teenage years, I began to experience more internal struggles, especially in family settings. I became more vocal and started speaking up when I felt things weren’t right. Unfortunately, due to external factors in my family life, I began to act out as a form of expressing my pain. I wasn’t taught how to handle trauma, so I used my voice and behavior to channel what I was feeling. This period of rebellion was my way of trying to make sense of the challenges I faced, but it wasn’t always the healthiest way of coping.
By the time I approached adulthood, I recognized that the path I was on wasn’t the one I wanted for my life. I realized that I needed to make a change. That’s when my healing journey began. I knew that I had to confront my past, learn how to navigate my emotions, and ultimately, take control of my future. My earlier experiences, though challenging, shaped my resilience and deepened my understanding of who I was meant to be. And while I didn’t have all the answers back then, those years laid the foundation for my transformation and growth as an individual.
