Today we’d like to introduce you to Jodi Levitan

Hi Jodi, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?

My story has many chapters- circus clown, mime, performer, stage manger, wife, mom.
All of this brought me to where I am now proffesionally- a screenwriter. It’s pretty great. All of my screenplays are female forward – character driven stories with strong female protagonists. Recently I’ve been persuring historiclal figures- women who have led in science, culture, the arts- and have not been recognised. I’m very interested in bringing the stories of these women to light,

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?

I think the biggest challenge has been getting out of my own way. I’ve learned to trust my voice. That is an acomplisment of which I’m very proud.

At the moment I have two fims in pre-production- Finding Distance and The Lesson Plan.
Finding Distance is a coming of age story set in the thrilling world of competitive fencing, The Lesson Plan explores what happens to a teacher when I student becomes obessed with her- and then tries to destroy her life.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?

Let’s see- in my stories, truthfullness. In my life, love of family and friends.
