Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Henderson

Hi Jennifer, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.

Oh man, there are so many parts to this story… I gotta try to condense it! I had a nasty breakup many moons ago and I needed an outlet. I took the advice of my therapist and an old friend and decided to start a blog where I post all of my favorite beauty products. It was called My Product Addiction.

That same year, two of my closest friends moved to Australia. I had no plans of ever visiting them because I didn’t have a passport and couldn’t afford to pay $1500 for a plane ticket, so in my mind, we just weren’t gonna be friends anymore!

Fast forward to 2016, I learned about a vacation payment platform called Airfordable, You could book any flight you wanted and go on a payment plan to pay for it. I booked it and… a few months later I embarked on a 28 hour journey to Sydney.

That trip to Australia opened my eyes to a whole new world! Thus, My Product Addiction turned into Red Lips and Passports!

I created the platform to showcase how to travel the world without breaking the bank!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?

It definitely has not been a smooth road. I had no idea what I was doing when I started Red Lips & Passports. I thought I could post whenever I wanted and opportunities would just come to me. That’s not how it works!

I connected with another content creator and she really showed me the ropes on how to create engaging content, how to pitch brands and so much more.

Another hard thing to navigate has been the everchanging issues with the Algorithm on Instagram and Tiktok, low engagement can be really really discouraging.

One huge obstacle I am dealing with currently is creative burnout! Sometimes it can be really hard to pull myself out of a creative slump. I am learning to stop taking on so much so that I don’t experience creative burnout.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?

Red Lips and Passports has evolved into a lifestyle platform. Yes, I still talk about travel, but I am also sharing other things I love like what I am wearing, what I’m doing, beauty products, food annnnnd FRAGRANCE!!!!!

I think am most proud of the number of people my platform has encouraged to jump out there and see the world. I get so excited when I receive messages saying things like ” I just got my first passport’ or ‘I booked my first trip’.

We live in a world where people will say they like something just because it is popular or because they are being paid for it. I am not like that AT ALL! I think that’s what sets me apart from other platforms is that I am extremely authentic and I always keep it 100 with my community. Even if I am being paid for something, I will say exactly what I feel about a company or product. I have worked hard to gain the trust of my community, I want to keep it that way.
