Today we’d like to introduce you to Jen Cadet.
Jen , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
As a comfortable 9-to-5 worker, I consistently dabbled in entrepreneurial ventures outside of my job. There has always been a fire within me to push forward, pursue my passions, help others reach their goals, and find additional ways to create passive income. This is where my nickname came from—people know me as “Jen of All Trades.”
I first got started in real estate a few years ago after realizing I wanted to make a tangible difference in people’s lives by helping them find their dream homes, providing additional education on the buying process for those who lacked the knowledge or feared the steps. Before real estate, I worked in marketing, sales, customer service, and account management under a variety of companies and corporations. While I enjoyed it, I didn’t feel like I was fully tapping into my potential or passion.
My path to becoming a wedding officiant was a bit unexpected, but it has been deeply fulfilling. My cousin randomly mentioned that she had gotten her certificate and thought I would be great at it as well, due to my bright personality. I was hesitant because of my fear of public speaking, but I was intrigued by the idea of pushing myself past that fear. After all, who doesn’t love a wedding and admire love?
I’ve always been drawn to the moments in life that truly matter—the milestones that bring people together. Weddings, in particular, have always been special to me. I love the idea of uniting two people in love, helping them celebrate their commitment to each other, and ensuring their ceremony is as meaningful and personal as possible.
In my mind, real estate and weddings make a fantastic combination. I am the person who gets to be a part of the most monumental moments in a person’s life.
Today, I am approaching my fifth year in both of these roles, and I couldn’t be happier.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
If any journey were smooth sailing, I don’t think it would be fully worth it. I actually embrace the struggle because it has made me stronger and more resilient.
Starting off in both roles required sacrifices—time and money. It also took a great deal of patience because clients don’t just fall from the sky like rain. The work it takes to put your own brand out there and separate yourself from the competition is never easy. Finding creative ways to capture the attention of clients and show them why I would be the best choice as their realtor or officiant was another challenge.
Finding that first client and maintaining momentum with recurring clients was a significant struggle. Making time and putting together the finances to promote myself and network was challenging, especially since I had to balance my time between my 9-to-5 job and my personal life.
Once I got into a groove with a comfortable routine and stayed consistent with my schedule, the struggle became less and less.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My friends coined me as “Jen of All Trades.” While working my 9-to-5 jobs over the years, I’ve always found myself dabbling in outside ventures. I started back in 2012 as a publicist in entertainment, then moved on to managing different creative brands. After that, I transitioned to account management in tech, which eventually led me to retail in bridal sales. My final and current roles are as a realtor and wedding officiant.
I’m most proud of the fact that I can balance all of my skills and roles. I’m able to help others and myself grow in our career paths or provide a wealth of knowledge and advice to those who need it. I’ve gathered a generous amount of contacts through networking and business.
I mostly specialize in marketing and creating ideas for growth with brands. I can assist buyers, renters, and sellers in their journeys through real estate. I unite couples in the union of marriage; my officiant services also include baby blessings and event hosting as an emcee.
I believe I set myself apart by being multifaceted—a one-stop shop, which some may not be able to provide.
How do you define success?
Success can be defined in many ways, depending on individual values, goals, and life experiences. For me, success isn’t just about achieving a particular outcome, like wealth or notoriety, but about the growth and impact I’ve developed.
At its core, I see success as pursuing passions with purpose and consistently striving to improve while maintaining a sense of balance. It’s about setting goals that are meaningful to you—whether personal or professional—and finding satisfaction in the journey. Ending my days happy and feeling fulfilled is crucial.
Success, to me, is also being able to help someone achieve their own goals, making a difference in my community, or simply building strong, authentic relationships. I feel successful when those around me are happy and growing.
Success looks different for everyone. It’s about progress, not perfection.
