Today we’d like to introduce you to Jay Fields

Hi Jay, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.

My journey started in high school around my junior year when I actually started to care more about my appearance. I noticed that most of what I wore were Polo shirts and button fronts in a school where most of the other guys wore t-shirts and sweatpants. I stuck out like a sore thumb, but didn’t necessarily have the confidence to naturally embrace it. Throughout the rest of high school and the first part of college, I continued to dress the same way and tried practicing being confident. Looking back now, I was definitely overcompensating for the confidence I didn’t have. In 2022, fortunately a shift happened when I was approached to walk in a local fashion show. I had no clue how many doors would open and the amazing network of people I would soon build just from that experience. Since then, I have walked in many other shows for local brands and big names alike. I have also appeared on television with Alan Gonzalez from Project Runway and more. This is now my third magazine interview. Now, I have become fortunate enough to relocate to Las Vegas and continue my journey.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?

Honestly speaking, most of the struggles I faced came from lack of confidence earlier on. For what I thought felt like forever, I initially saw no progress in my pursuit to become a model. And it wasn’t until I became wiser and learned how to get out of my own way mentally that I started to see results. I didn’t realize how much the mind plays a role in our lives and I had to learn to train mine for success.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?

I am most proud of the paths I’ve chosen to take in life that have made me who I am. What I feel that sets me apart from others is the way that I think.

What does success mean to you?

Success looks different for everyone. But in general, I would say that success is simply deciding what you want and achieving it. Most times, we may not know exactly HOW something will happen but the key is staying firm in faith. It is amazing how many times I’ve seen success when everything around me seemed to be crumbling. I thank God everyday for the many successes I’ve seen in my life, big and small.
