Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Catherine .
Hi Jamie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My passion for the creative arts has led me in many different directions over the years. In 2018, I had an epiphany, vision to start designing and creating notebooks, journals and planners. This was sparked through my own personal battle with anxiety and depression.
Originally, I went to school for Cosmetology in Upstate, NY. While holding onto my state license, I moved to Georgia, May 2, 2002 after living with my cousin in Nashville for only 4 months. Throughout the years, I fell out of being a hairdresser and ended up getting in the restaurant industry which allowed me the flexibility and freedom I desire with work, however I knew it wasn’t something I wanted to continue doing the older I became.
I currently work in property management, as a leasing consultant and now live in Charlotte,NC.
After moving back home to Upstate, NY in 2019 for a failed engagement, I continued to write. But it was more in poetry. It was helping me to heal, and overcome the damage that had been done in that relationship. Just recently, I have taken a lot of the poetry I’ve written over the last couple of years and turned it into a personal book I’d eventually like to get published.
My poetry through Heart Create Write has been a safe space that was inspired from love, then to sudden heartbreak.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Overall, I think the line of our work should feel effortless. As if this is what we are meant to be doing the entire time. Ultimately, we must grow to get to where we need to be. I think I needed those years learning from trial and error. You will have many bumps along the way, and I’ve had plenty. Believing in myself, has been a struggle of mine. As well as not feeling adequate enough to live out the work I truly desire to do. I’ve decided that self limiting beliefs will no longer have power over me. I know how much I’m capable of.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a writer and designer who desires to be a voice for those who are still left silently sitting in the dark. My goal one day is to reach millions of people all across the globe, especially through my poetry. I also hope to help and encourage many who sit in that anxiety. I’m putting something that’s been so negative and shamed throughout my lifetime, turning it into something bigger than myself.
