Today we’d like to introduce you to Ian Cahill
Hi Ian, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Ian Cahill (Comfort WithIn Noise) started in a bedroom with a broken three string guitar, a Mac G4, GarageBand, and a love of the relationship between film and music. Since 2003 I have made it the top priority to understand this relationship. As I grew stronger with my craft as a composer, music producer, sound designer. I began to develop my knowledge of the business of music licensing in the film industry starting in 2020. I’m currently working with independent filmmakers, independent recording artists, licensing agencies and music libraries as well as music supervisors.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Lots of challenges along the way as well as current challenges that are constant. Time, financial resources, are a on going factor. In the beginning it was also finding ways of making relationships with the people in the industry.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Creating music for film and television, instrumental music , composer, sound designer. Music production for music artists. I have a decent range of musical genres that I can work with as a producer. My strengths are Hiphop, R&b (both traditional and modern) Rock (all sub genres) Dark pop, cinematic music.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
More and more artists are becoming aware of the benefits of the music licensing industry commonly referred to as Sync Music. This market is growing rapidly especially with the recent increase of online educational programs available online.
