Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Faurot
Hi Hannah, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my business, Han Made Goods, five years ago. I was a new teacher, looking for creative outlet in the evenings. I enjoyed sewing, but didn’t really have anything to sew. I started looking around and decided to start creating hair accessories. I raided my mom’s fabric stash, and got to work! I started out with sewing headbands and scrunchies. To begin with, I posted photos on my business Instagram. People would comment if they wanted to purchase.
As time went on, I expanded into my own website and added new products including clips, hair scarves, hats, etc.
About 2 years ago, I purchased an embroidery machine and added embroidered apparel to my business. This has helped my business really explode! I specialize in small-batch, custom, and personalized embroidered apparel. I work with customers to design their dream apparel! I absolutely love it!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’ve definitely had my fair share of struggles. When I started my business, I really had no idea what I was doing as far as the logistics and back end. I have had to figure all of that out along the way. I’m thankful for my husband who has helped me figure out all that kind of stuff!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My business currently specializes in custom apparel. I love working with others to create exactly what they are looking for! My customers love that they can choose everything, down to the color of the sweatshirt, thread, and font! I am so proud to offer high quality and unique apparel! I love that my customers get items from me that help them celebrate moments in their lives: getting married, having a baby, going to college, etc.
What makes you happy?
My family makes me so incredibly happy! I just had my first baby three months ago. My daughter Heidi is my whole world! Running this business allows me to stay home and raise her, which is so incredibly special to me. I love that I get to spend time with her to watch her grow up!
