Today we’d like to introduce you to George Schmid.
Hi George, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in a remote area of NJ where we had many horses, dogs and cats. I spent my spare time fishing in the streams and ponds and pheasant hunting in the winter.
I was also an avid skier and earned my brown belt in Karate by working out 6 days a week for over 3 years.
I went to college at Bradley University in Illinois and eventually became the manager of a large night club and got in the Music business, starting Progressive Artist Management.
We booked bands in the Midwest and started putting on concerts and then band/artist management.
I invented the Tube-n-It sport tube to be towed behind speedboats, the River Tuber to float down rivers and then the Card Tree which held 72 greeting cards in the shape and colors of a Christmas Tree. American Greeting picked up my product.
Was able to work my way up in Corporate America as well and served in several executive positions.
Today I spend most of my time on entertainment and have become a producer for the top celebrity talk show, Sidewalkstv and an investor.
Have also invested in the new Nozzleman Pizza franchises, along with Snooki and supporter Jeremy Renner and founder Rob Powells. A percentage of proceeds go to helping firefighters across the USA.
Anther investment we made is with Transition Franchise Brands, featuring “Clutter Cleaners”, which takes over many of the duties and clean up when a loved one passes away. They perform the work most of us don’t like to.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Tube-n- It had a family member/investor try to take it all away because it got so big, and the music business always has had its twists and turns.
The pandemic shut down much of our efforts, but the rebuilding process is going very well.
We see a bright future now.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
One of the things we do well and enjoy is helping unknown musical artists realize big dreams in bringing their music to the world.
We have helped several acts to achieve the goals initially set.
We don’t collect any dollars from these artists until they make money, which is unusual in the music industry.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Yes many. Our manufacturer of our sport Tube was Sevylor in France, and they were fantastic, making the product a worldwide hit.
American Greetings got us into all of their North American retail stores with our Card Tree product and were very helpful
I had some great bosses in the corporate world that got behind whatever I did and turned my efforts into successes every time.
Rob Powells gave us the opportunity to invest in Nozzleman Pizza and now that we are going into 50+ Walmart’s and several airports we know this will be a major brand.
Richard Lee the creator of Sidewalks Entertainment and Cynthia Rhodes the CEO were kind enough to let us work with their celebrity talk show and gave us a sizeable percentage of stock for our investment and work. This has become so much fun.
Reel Vision Entertainment with Darcy Donavan and Dylan Nelson are working with us on several projects and they are a blast to work with.
