Today we’d like to introduce you to Felicity Scott.
Hi Felicity, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey started when I was young, watching my mom turn everything into a production. The amazingly creative Mrs. Dannette Scott has a way of making ordinary moments feel extraordinary. She doesn’t just plan events—she creates experiences. One of my favorite memories is when she put together a tea party for the youth at church. And when I say tea party—I mean an experience. Pastel colors, elegant tea cups, flowers everywhere, a massive centerpiece with finger foods—it was like something straight out of a movie. She poured so much love and intentionality into it, making sure every detail felt special. Watching her bring a vision to life sparked something in me and showed me the power of creativity and storytelling.
I was also surrounded by music and production thanks to my dad, the legendary Mr. Percy Scott—a Primary Artist, Producer, Composer, Pianist, Arranger, and Recording Artist. You name it, he’s done it all. I spent a lot of time traveling with him, helping set up for his shows, and sitting through late-night rehearsals. Being hands-on with staging, lighting, and equipment gave me an early understanding of how things worked behind the scenes—skills I use today when setting up for photoshoots, designing sets, and creating brand visuals.
And then, there’s my brilliant and inspiring sister, Teresa Flynn Everett—an American Educator, Author, Speaker, and Poet. Teresa has always been someone who leads with wisdom, purpose, and creativity. She was also the first person to truly trust me with my vision. At 18, I directed her music video from start to finish. I did a casting call (literally found kids in Walmart because I knew families would be there before heading to the park), styled them in tie-dye shirts, and created an inspirational video about passion and potential. That project was everything to me, and since then, we’ve done three more music videos together, all with that same message of inspiration. Teresa’s support and belief in my creativity helped me step into my own, and I’ll always be grateful for that.
When I got to college, I went through what felt like every major possible—business (changed it before class, which is funny because now I’m getting my MBA), computer engineering (lasted one day, lol), graphic design (which I loved but couldn’t get into the program), and finally, communications with a focus on public relations. During that time, I was still playing basketball, but when I didn’t make the team, I pivoted. Instead, I became the videographer for the women’s basketball team, capturing footage for live broadcasts. That experience deepened my love for media and production and eventually led me to start Behind the Butterfly, my own radio show at KSSU, where I interviewed people about their transformation stories. When the pandemic hit, I expanded it into a podcast, teaching myself how to record, edit, and produce from scratch.
Fashion was always part of me too. In college, I took it seriously—joining the Student Fashion Association, curating photoshoots, traveling to different cities to model, and even winning Best Designer in the SFA Annual Fashion Show. I got to work behind the scenes at Sacramento Fashion Week, collaborate with celebrity stylist Mario B., and connect with so many incredible designers.
Now, everything has come full circle. I’m the founder of Terezah LLC, a visual branding and design studio where I help businesses bring their brands to life through creative direction, set design, and brand visuals. I’m also getting my MBA to expand my business expertise while continuing to grow Behind the Butterfly and empower others through storytelling, branding, and transformation. Looking back, every moment—whether it was helping my mom with decorating, setting up for my dad’s shows, directing my sister’s music video, or learning production through sports and fashion—has led me right here, and I’m just getting started.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Has it been a smooth road? Absolutely not! But I will say, I’m incredibly blessed, and I don’t take anything for granted. God, my parents, grandma, family, and friends have been beyond supportive. The real challenge? Me. I’m the problem, lol.
There have been moments of self-doubt, battling the fear that things won’t happen the way I envision, and feeling insecure about my work. And let’s not even start on imposter syndrome—whew, that one had me in a chokehold! But let me tell you, I am so happy to finally be on the other side of that.
The turning point? The moment I DECIDED TO LET GO AND LET GOD—and most importantly, got out of my own way. Ever since, I’ve felt so much lighter, and the progress I’ve seen in just a few months has been unreal. I don’t know if it’s because my frontal lobe has finally fully developed (lol), but I feel more aligned, more confident, and truly at peace with who I am and what I’ve accomplished.
I’ve learned to fully accept myself and live authentically, unapologetically as me. And the proof? It’s in the pudding! I have to remind myself constantly that I AM THAT GIRL—and after hearing it so many times from the people who love and support me, I can finally say it and actually believe it for myself. Thank you to everyone who has poured into me—I love y’all!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a visual brand strategist, creative director, and entrepreneur with a deep passion for storytelling—both for people and brands. Through my company, Terezah LLC, I specialize in bringing stories to life through brand photography, creative direction, and brand identities. I don’t just create visuals; I craft transformative brand experiences that ensure stories are heard and seen in the most creative and meaningful way.
I believe that we are all walking stories, each carrying experiences, dreams, and identities that deserve to be shared and visually brought to life. My work is rooted in this belief, helping brands evolve and express their narratives in a way that resonates deeply with their audience.
In high school, I expressed myself through bold fashion, vibrant colors, and creative styling. I mixed patterns unapologetically, styled my hair in unique ways, and even got the nickname “Patterns” because of my fearless approach to fashion. But beyond my own self-expression, I wanted others to feel that same sense of freedom.
I remember doing my friends’ eyebrows in different colors, encouraging them to embrace their individuality. I wanted them to see that who they are is enough—bold, quiet, quirky, or anything in between. After school, they would tell me how it made them feel—how it gave them confidence, how others reacted, and how, for the first time, they felt empowered to just be themselves. That’s when I realized: helping people express their authentic selves was my purpose.
I’m best known for my ability to turn ideas into compelling visuals, whether through brand production, immersive set design, or strategic storytelling. One of my proudest achievements is creating Terezah Studios, a welcoming creative space where entrepreneurs and businesses can bring their vision to life without limitations. Overcoming imposter syndrome and self-doubt to establish this space was a major milestone for me. I’m also proud of my work in community building, from serving as the Marketing Director for the Sacramento State Black Alumni Chapter to co-founding Speak Rivers Move Mountains Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to empowering women.
What sets me apart is my unique blend of visual storytelling, brand strategy, and creative innovation. Inspired by the metamorphosis of a butterfly, I guide brands through their evolution, ensuring that every touchpoint—from visuals to messaging—aligns seamlessly with their identity.
At my core, I believe branding is more than just aesthetics—it’s about telling a story that connects, transforms, and leaves a lasting impact.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
My biggest source of strength is my faith. I read the Bible to stay grounded, find wisdom, and remind myself that everything is already written. My prayer closet is my sacred space—it’s where I reset, reflect, and connect with God.
I also love listening to Sarah Jakes Roberts on YouTube. Her messages always seem to come right on time and give me that extra push I need.
And of course, music is everything to me. I love to dance, and music keeps my energy flowing. Afrobeats are my absolute favorite—the rhythm, the vibes, the energy—it just lifts my spirit! I also enjoy instrumental music, especially when I need to focus or relax. There’s something about melodies without words that allows me to think clearly and feel at peace. I listen to songs that make me feel good, uplift my soul, and keep me moving, whether it’s Afrobeats, gospel, R&B, or anything that speaks to me.
At the end of the day, it’s all about staying aligned, keeping my spirit full, and making sure I’m in spaces that pour into me just as much as I pour into others.
