Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily McCormick.
Hi Emily, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Prior to owning Cobblestone Kitchen, I worked for several years as an event coordinator and then later in the energy industry. I ended up quitting my job to stay home with our 10 month old when my husband’s job transferred us from Oklahoma to Wyoming. When we moved back to Oklahoma, the opportunity to operate Cobblestone Kitchen arose, and I was thrilled at the aspect of being creative and using my brain for non-mom tasks again. My husband and I live in Oklahoma and have a 6 and 4 year old. I’m thankful that owning Cobblestone Kitchen allows me the flexibility of being able to be involved in their daily lives as well as create income and a “non-mom” world.
The founder of the company created it in 1992 as a mom to 4 young children looking to augment her family’s income, and I am proud to be a part of a company that was created by a mom and now continues to provide income and flexibility to another mom. It also brings me joy knowing that people get to open a gift box of cookies that was sent to them, which is fun!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The developed infrastructure the founder created allowed me a great starting point as I navigated owning my own business for the first time while setting goals for future growth. Honestly, as cliche as it may sound, the trickiest part is probably juggling business life with home life. Navigating kid schedules and my husband’s work schedule along with the business can be overwhelming on some days.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Cobblestone Kitchen is a cookie company that has been specializing in corporate gifting for over 30 years. We’ve partnered with car dealerships, realtors, insurance companies, law firms, and many other companies who look to strengthen their relationship with clients, potential clients, and employees. We handle all production, execution, and delivery, so our clients don’t need to worry about the details. We bake and ship all cookies the same day, and we average 3,000 – 4,000 cookies shipped each month, so thankfully we stay busy! I’m proud of our infrastructure, efficiency, and knowing we are helping people give gifts and send joy. I love when recipients reach out to me letting me know how much the gift meant to them. We include personalized notes with each order, which I think sets us apart from other more generic gifts.
How do you think about happiness?
So many things make me happy! On the personal side – hot coffee, iced coffee, efficiency, theme parties, slow mornings, reading, listening to music. I really treasure time with my kids and husband, and as cheesy as it sounds, being with them makes me happy! On the business side – bringing joy to others, thinking of new ways to try things, networking and making new connections. And coffee.
