Today we’d like to introduce you to Emanuel Deanda.
Hi Emanuel, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My story begins in the great city of Pittsburgh. Born and raised in the city, and of course I am a Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers and Penguins fan. My love for music started as a child. Playing records on the record player like Kool And The Gang “Celebration” or Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”. I fell in love with R&B and Hip Hop music and my journey towards the stage was set. I sang in the choir at Westinghouse high school and aspired to be a singer and songwriter. I started my singing career with a few friends from the choir. We formed a group called Crave and we had big time local success. That success put me in position to grab the opportunity to join the platinum selling group Pretty Ricky. Going from local to national and international. It was a blessing to experience the music industry on that level.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s never a smooth road to success. There were plenty of long days and nights. Working 2-3 jobs, no sleep. Being on the grind and hustle like that is challenging for anybody. I’m thankful I was able to push through.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a full time artist, teaching music in the Propel School System out here in Pittsburgh. I also do artist residences here through the Pittsburgh Center For The Arts & Media. I release music from my own studio I have at home called 808 Studios. I am a singer songwriter and music producer. Most known for my singing voice and style. My Live performances include choreography as well. I’d consider myself to be a very dynamic artist. I am self taught on the piano and drums, which helped me to become a music producer. I am most proud of that because it takes a lot to learn to play instruments well and turn that into cohesive music. What sets me apart from a lot of artists is my style. I have that old school 90’s style of singing and music production.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up I was a shy kid but very active and creative. I had a super creative imagination, so I was constantly able to come up with musical ideas whether it was melody or rhythm.
