Today we’d like to introduce you to Ellen Miller
Hi Ellen, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It all started back in the day when I was building my own private practice as a therapist. Like most therapists, I had to make my own website, and somewhere along the way, I got hooked. I ended up spending hours tweaking it, redesigning it, and diving deep into everything from effective design to attracting ideal clients. I became a bit obsessed with how to use design strategically and how to show up as your authentic self online, so you can actually connect with the clients you want to work with.
After redesigning my website more times than I care to admit, and helping other therapists with their sites on the side, I realized it had all been worth it. It was this process that made me a better web designer and gave me the tools to help other therapists create websites that feel true to who they are – while also attracting their best-fit clients.
Now, I get to help therapists do exactly that – build websites that show off their authentic selves, without all the hours of headache I went through!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest struggles has been dealing with imposter syndrome and self-doubt. For the longest time, I didn’t believe that something I genuinely enjoy doing could actually be paid work. I always thought creative stuff, like designing websites, was just a hobby I’d squeeze in here and there – never something I’d get to do as part of my job.
So yeah, it’s been a wild ride realizing that I could build a business around something I’d happily do in my free time. But once I pushed past that “this is too fun to be real work” mindset, I got to help other therapists with the same kind of creative energy that I used to only save for my own late-night website tweaks.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What makes my work stand out is that I’ve been in the therapist’s shoes. I remember building my own website in the early days, and like many therapists, my first version was more like a grad school essay than something that truly reflected me. That’s a common trap – we think we have to be super buttoned-up and professional, but the reality is, when someone is looking for a therapist, they’re searching for a human connection.
The relationship you have with your therapist is one of the strongest indicators of whether therapy will be successful, so I focus on helping therapists build websites that reflect their authentic personalities, not just a list of credentials.
By showing who they truly are, therapists can attract clients who are a great fit for them, and that’s something I’m really passionate about.
Not only does this help clients find someone they connect with, but it also helps therapists avoid burnout by working with their best fit clients. I guide therapists in uncovering that authenticity, and then we work together to make sure it’s reflected throughout their website – in the design, the copy, and the overall branding.
What’s next?
I recently launched a logo shop on my site, which has been super exciting! I’m looking forward to diving even more into the branding side of things. While I’ve always focused on website design, I’m expanding to help therapists and coaches really hone in on their branding as a whole – from logos to color palettes, fonts, and more. It’s all about creating a cohesive look and feel that reflects their personality and attracts their ideal clients.
I’m excited to keep growing this side of the business and help even more therapists and coaches show up confidently online. It feels like a natural next step, and I love that I get to bring a creative approach to something that’s often seen as dry or overwhelming. Big changes ahead, but all in a direction that feels really aligned!
