Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Bloom
Hi Elizabeth, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I grew up in the south before moving to the Shenandoah Valley to attend James Madison University. I graduated with a BFA in 2014, and promptly spent the following 10 years building a career as a Graphic Designer and Fine Artist; designing for product-based businesses such as Tuckernuck, Saint Bernard, Pamela Munson, and Tervis Tumbler. In 2023 I decided to move to my studio practice full time; creating brand identity, creative direction, and fine art through imagination, creativity and joy to enrich others lives through illustration and creative collaboration.
In April 2023 I took my Studio practice full-time and officially launched Studio E Bloom. My studio practice and business is broken into a couple different parts. I work with brands to build their brand identity systems, from fashion, to hospitality, I work mainly with small businesses to build out their creative direction, brands style guide, websites, and illustration collaborations like wallpaper, home decor, and dress patterns.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Running your own business is never always smooth, but I think anything you go through teaches you resilience. I have said yes to a lot of different creative projects and then I see what type of work I enjoy doing and what type of project I don’t want to take on again. I think a huge struggle most creatives go through is learning when it’s time to up your price. Any time of have taken on a client who wanted to pay less than my going rate has always been a more difficult client. Clients that understand and value your worth are always better clients in the long run.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an Fine Artist and Creative Director. I specialize in working with brands to define and strategize their branding and mission. I come in and help define their aesthetic as well as their creative goals. I love helping brands find their identity, tone of voice and mission. I specialize in fashion, beauty, and e-commerce brands. I also am an avid painter and partner with brand on print designs for clothes and home decor items. I think what sets me a part as a visual artist is my fashion background, when I’m designing I’m thinking about the person wearing the garment or using the product, who is the customer as well as if this is visually appealing and speaks to their lifestyle.
