Today we’d like to introduce you to Elina Lukas
Elina, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have always been drawn to art, practicing traditional watercolour, drawing and other common techniques. Years of experimenting and progress has led me to where I am today, creating dream-like abstract artwork.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I think there are very few artists that can say their art journey has been a smooth one. My journey hasn’t been a smooth one either, shifting and changing between different art styles, experimenting with techniques and taking breaks from making art all together.
The biggest challenge has been believing in my own vision and avoiding peer comparison. I think as artists, we are so susceptible to self-doubt and letting the idea of what people might think about us drown our desire to create. But if you manage to push through it, you’ll let go of expectations and stay true to your own creativity.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
For the past two years I have been exploring the magical world of abstract art. It’s a discipline that often gets frowned upon, but creating cohesive, meaningful abstract paintings is so much more difficult than you might think.
While my first love was juicy, heavy body acrylic paint, I have recently switched over to creating art digitally in my own special way.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I’m an avid reader, but I don’t read much about art. I think it’s important to keep your interests not so narrow because there is so much inspiration to be found all around you.
Music and poetry are some of the things that I feel a deep connection to, as well as being open to viewing other artists’ work.
