Today we’d like to introduce you to DEANDRE BUCK.
Hi DEANDRE, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My life as an artist began at the age of 19. My uncle noticed how serious I was about pursuing a professional recording career and decided to invest in me. This was during a time where DJ’s still mixed live with vinyl so we made sure to put all the singles on wax with a B Side. My first single “That’s The Way” spent 10 months in rotation on the radio in mix shows just because we printed vinyl. We had CD Singles that made their way into consignment stores and we were off to the races. We began working towards a debut album to showcase myself and my best friend M.Y., eventually we were joined by two others and Warrior Child Records began.
It began well, but ultimately changes came with time. After my contract with Warrior Child was up I decided to take everything I learned from that journey and create my own imprint and in 2012 Mer$iless Myndz Productions was birthed. Since then I’ve released a multitude of projects and given artist platforms to apply their trade and helped develop a few artist who have projects released with us as well.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
A road with no challenges offers no rewards. There have been many challenges along the way. In my case, it came from loss. Loss of family, transitions of employment, a pandemic that halts momentum…all of these had different effects over the years. Ultimately I began to look at life as experiences, practicing an attitude of gratitude on every situation.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Mer$iless Myndz began as an artist development and production firm to educate artists on the business side of the music business. We evolved into a hub for professionals in all types of artistry. Photographers, models. Videographers, rappers, poets, dancers…we were the one stop shop for all of your entertainment needs or as our motto “No Labels…Just Brands”
In addition, M$M offers mastering services, graphic layouts for albums and promotional materials, digital distribution, EPK’s, and more
I am celebrating 20 Years since the release of my first single. I have been scammed, lied to, promises broken
and more but I took every loss as a lesson and now I take all of that knowledge and apply it to my trade.
For me, everything is a process and because I’m so process oriented it allows my vibe and vision to come to life more fluently. It also makes me meticulous in the way I work with artists. Patience has a way of playing tricks on you. You see everyone else around you promoting and you’re excited and want to promote too but trust God’s timing. Everything falls into place as it should.

What were you like growing up?
I had an extremely overactive imagination. I was the athlete playing both baseball and football. Organization oriented with a combination of service clubs and volunteer organizations. My mom and dad really supported anything I wanted to do. My grandmother had Multiple Sclerosis and my grandfather passed of Prostate Cancer when I was 13. So I jumped in to help “take care” of my grandmother. We shared a birthday so we were really close but my love for music came from my grandfather. He played trumpet In a jazz quartet and would listen to his records on Sunday’s while he cleaned. I found myself writing poems, short stories and eventually songs to jazz style beats and now that I think about it, that’s likely why my hip hop of late has been much more jazz influenced. As I grow in my music, my style adapts and my message is different.
I really began to enjoy writing songs and making music and playing baseball. That was my life for a very long time until I was hurt and couldn’t play any more. I wanted to play baseball in college at least so I began to dump all of that energy into music and the rest as they say is history.
Here we are, years later, still putting out quality music, poetry, and entertainment.
Mer$iless Myndz is currently gearing up to release “Wanderland.” A six track EP of summer/fall vibes described as “music that you’ll never need a vacation from.” Singles include “Sundress Season” (feat. Eterniti), “Feelin’ Right Fine” by fellow Powerlines Poetry troupemate Catharsis Tha Poet. It also features the last song recorded with his troupemate Mr. I’m Just Being Honest. A jam session collaboration with Halo City that will forever be dear to us.
