Today we’d like to introduce you to Daveron Rhenā
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey began on stages, singing and dancing across the country, and grew into a lifelong pursuit of creativity, connection, and entrepreneurship. At two years old, my mother placed me on a grand piano, handed me a microphone, and declared this my purpose. By four, I was training in dance, and by five, I was performing regularly. By ten, I was choreographing routines, self-publishing my first book with my mother’s help, and earning national recognition for my poetry.
At 16, I graduated high school on a full academic and athletic scholarship, cheering in front of crowds nearing 100,000. These formative experiences gave me discipline, confidence, and a deep love for the arts, setting the stage for future endeavors.
Inspired by my mother’s entrepreneurial spirit, I co-founded Global Arts Society Inc. in 2006, a nonprofit arts and humanitarian organization dedicated to empowering artists through education, workshops, and performance opportunities while making art and culture accessible to all—especially underserved communities.
Today, I continue my creative and entrepreneurial pursuits. I am still homeschooling my son, now in fifth grade, while actively mentoring individuals, families, and small business owners to support their personal and professional growth. Whether through music, education, ministry, or advocacy, I am deeply committed to using my experiences to uplift and inspire others.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has been anything but smooth. At six months old, I survived a traumatic brain injury after being ejected from a car, flying across a busy four-lane highway, and landing unconscious near a tree. Miraculously, nothing was broken, but the injury had lasting effects on my mental health, contributing to long-standing struggles with anxiety and depression. In my teens, a sudden drop in my white blood cell count added to these challenges.
Growing up as the only daughter of pastors and the child of the founding principal of a Christian academy, I faced constant scrutiny and criticism, leading to numerous traumatic events. These experiences often pushed me into the background, supporting others’ visions to protect myself.
In 2018, Hurricane Michael devastated my hometown, destroying two arts centers I had built—one from the ground up years earlier and another that had just celebrated its ribbon-cutting two days before the storm. My home, along with 15 years of cherished memories, was also lost. These devastating moments forced me to rebuild not just externally but, more importantly, internally, focusing on personal healing and growth.
Through the arts, entrepreneurship, and holistic development coaching, I strive to empower others and foster resilience. While these experiences have made putting myself and my music on stages today challenging, they have also strengthened my resolve to make a positive impact. I want people to connect with my message, but I struggle with the visibility and vulnerability that come with being in the spotlight.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As an artist (dancer and vocalist), I am known for my vocal range and stage presence. In the community where I grew up, I was recognized as a creative professional and entrepreneur whose work spans music, education, mentorship, and advocacy. Through Daveron Rhena Publishing, I share my creative works while helping others bring their stories to life. I’m currently releasing my fifth song, working toward completing my first album, and writing my second book. Music remains central to my journey, but building businesses and brands fuels my passion for empowering others.
In addition to my artistic pursuits, I offer travel advising through My Time Away Travel Co., where I combine six years of airline industry experience with my love for travel. This venture creates affordable opportunities for families, businesses, groups, and individuals to explore destinations worldwide.
My advocacy focuses on mental health, sharing my personal journey, and equipping others to create meaningful change—mind, body, and spirit. Whether helping people achieve career success, guiding couples to strengthen their communication and connection, or inspiring individuals through small but transformative changes, my work is rooted in empowerment and service.
Performing on the final tour with Candi Staton in the UK was a career milestone, but the greatest reward comes from uplifting others through music, business, and service. I’m proud to navigate diverse roles and industries, making a lasting impact by fostering creativity and hope.
What makes you happy?
What makes me happy is creating moments of connection, growth, and inspiration. For me, happiness isn’t fleeting; it’s a sense of alignment—when my passions, values, and purpose come together in harmony. My current initiatives, including my new book, focus on inspiring others to join me in this journey of alignment. It’s about building a fulfilling life by embracing growth in every part of ourselves—mind, body, and spirit—and empowering those who desire greater fulfillment to take meaningful steps toward it.
From performing on stage to helping someone find clarity in their path or hearing how my work has made a difference in their life, these experiences fill me with gratitude. I also find immense joy in quiet moments—hearing my son’s laughter, seeing a vision come to life, or savoring an unexpected opportunity. These moments remind me to keep striving, not for fleeting happiness, but for a life that feels meaningful and aligned with who I am and what I am called to do.
