Today we’d like to introduce you to Dante Henry
Dante, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’d always been a fan of music and knew I wanted rap, so as a kid, I’d just written poems and songs, but had no way recording any sort of lyrics until I’d gotten an iPhone. Fast forward, right before college, I’d gotten a laptop and began recording songs via different DAWs for practice in order to get better. After years of trials, tribulations, failures, and so much more in between, it’d made me the artist that I am today and I’m happy to say that although I have a very long way to go, I’m grateful for how far I’ve came and humbled to be in this position.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It most definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, and I’m glad it hasn’t either. It allows me to grab inspiration from my losses and realizations a whole lot better as well as help me become a better artist over time, because I’m constantly learning. Some of the struggles along the way have been similar to other artists and some recently for me. The main one is figuring out who my audience is as a rapper and how I can find them quicker. You never know who’s listening, and as an artist, you always wanna put your best art out 1st to figure out certain things. Learning to budget is a struggle as well; you have to make sacrifices for the art or you have to put you art on hold and attend to real world problems such as losses in a family, an accident, losing a job. The list goes on.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an artist based out of NJ is all I can say. My specialty is being a complete goofball in music with certain hooks, as well as rapping as best as possible and constantly sharpening my penmanship. All of my friends and family know me very well enough and that’s something thar keeps me going. I’m most proud of my recent accomplishment, which is consistently dropping videos and promoting myself to the best of my ability. What sets me apart from other is that I’m fine with knowing that I have much more to study in Hip-hop. I know that I never have to stop studying.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Whenever I feel like I’m overwhelmed, can’t create, or have writer’s block, I love to cook. It allows ideas to flow a lot better and I’m able piece together a song easier. It’s strange, but it’s my way of figuring the structure of a record much more easily.
