Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea Brown
Hi Chelsea, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Chyleeeeee.
Where I started? I woke up one morning in Vegas in 2017 and told my family I was thinking about real estate. I came back home to Richmond a couple of days later and had my license by May of 17’.
How did I get here today? God. Cause looking back over my life , I know it’s dramatic to say I could have been dead or in jail, but both are true. Not that I was living my life wrong, but the environment and circumstances I was raised in, is something off “punkd” with Ashton.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Well anyone that’s in real estate knows, it’s nothing smooth about it. Just like anything worth having is worth working hard for?
So let’s paint the picture. I’m not going to dig too far in my childhood, because what’s the point, so we can take it back to 2017, the year I acquired my license.
I got my license in May of 17’ and buried my bestfriend of 15+ years , in July. I finally caught my breath around January of 18’. So I worked real estate and my full time, then quit my job in June of 18’. It was the most toxic work environment ever lol. I was the token black girl turned “angry black woman” let them tell it lmao.
Fast forward to 2019, I got pregnant. Then WALA, magic..the pandemic shutdown started on my birthday : March 24, 2020.
So imagine being pregnant with your first child, in isolation. So a different pregnancy for sure. Also during that time, Covid knocked out every transaction. I had $7 when my son was born 7.14.2020, then closed 11 transactions from then to November. I literally got out the hospital Thursday the 16th and that afternoon, I was at a walkthrough, and closing the next day.
Then in October , I found out my mom was terminally ill, and she passed away February of 2021, a month before both of our birthdays.
So when I say God has kept me, I really don’t know how I made it through that time, and making it today. Simply God.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Now, I am in real estate, but I am a creative to my core.
Along with that, I also model. I love real estate so much, I can do all those things.
I tailor my business to include all things. I say creative because real estate can be so boring, for someone that isn’t in it.
So I specialize in ushering clients through purchasing or selling of real estate , but customer satisfaction is number 1. With my sales experience totaling 12+ years and a Masters in Business, I look at my business as a concierge service of some sort. I’m here to serve.
What sets me apart? Have you seen me? Okay, I play a lot, a whole lot, but I don’t know one soul that can sell real estate one day, then hop on a runway the next, and actually do it.
What am I most proud of? Motherhood and navigating it. Like, I was able to house and grow a human over 39 weeks and 2 days but also run a multi-million dollar real estate business. Am I a magician? Not only that, but helping to raise a kind, loving, and smart little person. I get to quite literally break generational curses through him and help to provide him with a beautiful life? Like God chose me to do all that?! How magical is that?
I would also say my time on Americas next top model and more recently , Richmond Fashion Week. I hadn’t walked in a runway show in over 10 years, then walked 2 shows in a matter of 3 days. But God.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
My partner tells a story of us in 6th grade.
He said, this skinny girl with big ears stood up in class and said, “why does anyone have to bribe yall to do your work? It’s your only job!”That was me :)
I have always been the same way! I lived life like I was the main character in the movie, and still live like that today.
I was “too much” and full of life! I was also in center for the arts , that focused on singing , dancing , and acting. I’ve always loved being an artist, even when I didn’t know what I was, during childhood.
I frequented beauty pageants from the tender age of 4, and if you ever pull out a camera , IM GOING TO PERFORM!
