Today we’d like to introduce you to Cally Logan
Hi Cally, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Since I had the ability to read and write it seemed that my thoughts found their haven nestled between the pages of a diary or journal. At a young age I fell in love with writing, and that has been a love that has grown and matured with time. When I went to college I switched around majors a few times, but one evening while watching a documentary on the Eagles band it was as if the cloudy waters had parted and my next stepping stone was apparent and ahead of me. Don Henley, lead songwriter of the Eagles, had always been an inspiration, and he mentioned how he went for English in college, not music. My dad raised me with a deep, inescapable love and appreciation for classic rock, beautifully painted scenes through lyrics, and story-telling songs and Henley is a master at that. That evening watching the documentary really was a pivot point for me, for it was after that night that I began to invest in writing all the more. Following college I worked for a magazine writing articles and then from there began writing for Crosswalk.com. In 2021 a manuscript that had been a process for nearly half a decade was given a chance of a book deal and in 2022, “Hang in There, Girl!” debuted, with her sisters to follow in 2023 and 2024 of, “Dear Future Husband” and “The Wallflower that Bloomed.” In addition to my books I also write as a Senior Writer for Crosswalk.com and I write Bible studies for The Rooted Truth. I love to tell the real-life, true, wild stories of life and all it holds.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Smooth sails never made a good sailor, and smooth roads never built much of a muscle for a runner, and the same could be said of writing. It is wild to view a journey through the scope of a retrospective lens, but it is there that you see a Guiding Hand was with you the entire time, patiently enduring along with you the ups and downs of a path. I have faced rejection, closed doors, and the passing judgements of others, but in the end those things don’t really matter. If your goal is the paise and affections of man, you will always find yourself chasing an unattainable and shifting metaphorical dangling carrot. If you instead choose to die to self, to stop people-pleasing, to stop making your, “why” the fleeting things of earth and you hand over the pen to your Father in Heaven it is there that you will experience the “why” of your existence. To know Him and be known by Him is far greater than anything this world can offer, and it makes even the fiercest struggles, the most strenuous roads, and the most insurmountable obstacles opportunities to know your Lord all the more, for it is through them relationship is built.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an author, writer, and speaker. My specialty is Christian encouragement and lifestyle with a hear to really shed some Light in this world. This Light is not rooted or founded in my own efforts, wisdom, or abilities, rather I am merely the vessel of the One Who shines and abides within me. I boast the most in that He chose an introverted, shy, quirky girl and used her to share some hope in this world. I think my humor, wit, and idiosyncrasies are what sets me apart, for you will never meet anyone quite like me, that is for certain, but for the right ones I am their cup of tea. Even if that tea is a spiced floral tea.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
God. Truly, all that I am and all that I have has been because of Him and it is for Him, and that will continue from this side of Heaven until the next. He is the life-blood of it all.
