Today we’d like to introduce you to Brynn Snyder.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Entrepreneurship has been in my blood since I was 13 when I co-founded a bounce house company in Lethbridge, Canada, alongside my siblings. That early venture sparked a passion for business that has stayed with me to this day.
After earning a PFA in Product Design from Brigham Young University, I had the opportunity to work with industry leaders like Johnson & Johnson, Wadsworth Design, and Die Cuts with a View. Today, I am proud to be the Co-Founder and CEO of Slate Electric Flosser, a company born from my husband’s innovative invention—a tool designed to make flossing fun, easy, and incredibly effective.
At Slate, we prioritize education over profit because we believe knowledge is the key to better health. Oral hygiene isn’t just about fresh breath—it has a direct impact on overall well-being. Studies have linked gum disease to serious health conditions like dementia and certain types of cancer. That’s why we’re on a mission to educate and empower people to take control of their oral health.
Our journey has been incredible, and as our company continues to grow, we’ve recently moved into a new space in downtown Spokane. Designing and renovating our office has been a fun challenge—we’re embracing a European library aesthetic, which reflects both our appreciation for knowledge and our commitment to an elevated brand experience. I’m grateful for the amazing family and friends who have supported us along the way, helping us expand and reach new heights.
Beyond my career, my most cherished role is being a wife and mother. My husband, Dr. Danny Snyder, and I have five wonderful children—Morgan, McKell, Jenna, Juliette, and Colton. When I manage to carve out rare free time, I love gardening, biking, and skiing. I also coach cross-country at our local school, a role that keeps me connected to my community and my passion for fitness.
Coming from a large family, I treasure our time together at our lake home in Montana. I’m also a lifelong learner, always diving into books on personal and business development. One of my greatest joys is meeting new people and learning from them—I believe that everyone has something valuable to teach, and I love hearing different perspectives, experiences, and ideas. There’s nothing better than a great conversation over a warm cup of hot chocolate.
Life as an entrepreneur, mother, and business leader is a balancing act, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. The journey has been challenging, rewarding, and full of growth, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road to success has been anything but smooth, and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. Every challenge has been a learning experience that has made us stronger as a company. As a startup, we’ve learned the importance of pivoting—something that has been crucial as we navigated the world of direct-to-consumer sales. That transition came with its fair share of trial and error, from design tweaks to the occasional manufacturing hiccup. And as our business continues to grow rapidly, scaling has been one of the biggest hurdles—especially now as we prepare to enter the retail space.
But the challenges haven’t been just business-related. Finding a work-life balance has been an ongoing struggle, and I’ve had to be intentional about carving out time for family, friends, and myself. Prioritizing self-care has been a game-changer—whether it’s scheduling massages, acupuncture, or sneaking away for mini getaways with my family. At the end of the day, it’s all a balancing act, but I’m learning that the key is to embrace the chaos and enjoy the journey.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Flossing, Innovation, and Impact: The Story Behind Slate Electric Flosser
As the CEO and co-founder of Slate Electric Flosser, I’m on a mission to make flossing easier, more effective, and something people actually want to do. My husband and co-founder, Dr. Danny Snyder, is the brilliant dentist behind the invention—a 3-in-1 electric flosser that prevents disease and improves oral hygiene in ways traditional flossing simply can’t.
Every day, I have the privilege of working alongside an all-female team who share my passion for spreading awareness about oral health and its critical role in preventing serious diseases like Alzheimer’s, diabetes, heart disease, and even premature birth. We’re not just selling a product—we’re helping people take control of their health with a tool designed to bridge the gap between what dentists recommend and what people actually do. No more excuses, no more hassle—just a simple, effective way to make flossing a habit that sticks.
The Rollercoaster of Scaling a Startup
Growing Slate has been an incredible journey, but it hasn’t been without challenges. Scaling a fast-growing company means constantly adapting—relocating our warehouse, optimizing stock management, refining operations, and keeping up with demand. Every hurdle has been a lesson in resilience, and each step forward has reinforced our commitment to making Slate bigger and better.
But what I’m most proud of isn’t just the product we’ve built—it’s the mission behind it. Education and accessibility are at the heart of everything we do. We want people to understand that flossing isn’t just about fresh breath—it’s a preventative powerhouse against life-altering diseases. Hearing from customers about how Slate has changed their routines, seeing the impact we’re making, and watching our team grow—that’s what fuels me every single day.
What Sets Us Apart?
Slate isn’t just another oral care brand. We stand out because of our commitment to sustainability, safety, and inclusivity. Our flosser is sustainable and non-toxic, making it a healthier choice for both people and the planet. And beyond the product itself, we take immense pride in being a female-led and operated company, with an incredible team that includes Ukrainian refugees who bring resilience and talent to our mission.
At the end of the day, Slate is about more than just flossing—it’s about empowering people to take charge of their health, one small habit at a time.
And if there’s one thing I want you to take away from this—REMEMBER TO FLOSS! Your future self will thank you.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
And before I wrap this up—remember to FLOSS! Seriously, it’s one of the easiest things you can do to protect your health. Flossing isn’t just about fresh breath; it’s a preventative powerhouse against detrimental diseases down the road. Your future self will thank you—I promise!
