Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Hall.
Brittany, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Brittany Hall, I am 24 years old,
I was raised in Seaford, Delaware. The first state of America. People usually know us because of our limited number of beaches, since we are also the smallest state. However, this state is what has grown me into the person that I am today, with the help of 2 great loving parents, Toni and Mike who have taught me the ways of life and how to be a good person to everyone that I am around, but also the importance of Work ethic and having a drive. My father is a 5-time world Champion in powerlifting, so as a little girl, I was always taught how to become the best or to be the best in everything that I’ve ever wanted. His drive is what has taught me to understand the true meaning of “faith” and what it means and how to carry that spiritual mentality wherever I step I take. My mother Toni has inspired me to believe in my highest self, as she has been a believer in me since the day I was born. Without their endless love, I wouldn’t have been able to find my passion, and where my heart truly lies, as they have taught me, and have guided me into the person I am today.
It all started in 5th grade, where my friend Ged Pearson asked me to be a part of a play. At that time, I didn’t want to be a part of one. I was very extroverted, I couldn’t imagine myself on a stage, so I unconsciously told him yes. Long story short, we were soldiers in the play and I still remember the little fire I felt. Since then, I continued theatre throughout my Middle school years and happened to play a lead character for the play “Charlie and The Chocolate Factory.” I think back to then.. Still, who would’ve known all those practices, all those performances were preparing me for something bigger than at the time I couldn’t comprehend.
I refound that same fire, my Junior year of college, when I was introduced to screenplays in “Drama” taught by a wonderful English teacher “Ms. Gooding.” I always wanted to be a novelist, but having her show me different ways of expressing my vision helped me find my true purpose and where it will lead me to, which suddenly made me imagine a stage, where I could have the freedom to create.
After a year of imagining, manifesting, praying, and visualizing a play I had in mind, which is the power of my father’s story, as mentioned he was a 5-time world champion in powerlifting DRUG-FREE. His story resembles power, faith, and resilience through any obstacle that any human, especially a black male, can face in society. In 2022, I directed, produced, and wrote the play “It Was Worth The Weight” inspired by my father. The most beautiful thing about this, is that it was ran by God first, myself, Elijah Butler, Sadani Percy-Bryd, Daron Brown, Jaylan Gates, and Alexis Payne, and so many other students of The University Of Maryland Eastern Shore. They have tremendously helped me succeed and unfold my vision into what it is today. The success of this play led me to a new platform, a new story. I couldn’t just imagine this story on the stage.
That next semester, I eventually got accepted to Full Sail University, where I obtained my Master’s in Film. This opportunity led me to so many great things and networking with so many people who allowed me to grow in significant ways. During the process of Full Sail University I directed, Produced and wrote “It Was Worth The Weight.” A stage play into a film. Everything started to manifest just in the way that I truly envisioned it to be. I started to meet so many beautiful souls and had a very beautiful, hardworking team that helped me achieve the vision I had since the beginning of University Of Maryland Eastern Shore. Later on that year, I was also selected out of my class to Direct a television show “The Russell Gemstone” which has changed my perspective in the best manner and being able to have a deeper understanding of everything.
All because of the faith that I’ve had since the very beginning. You have to believe in anything that you want before you see it, and I promise it’ll come true. During this process, yes there were many of failures and things that didn’t go as planned, even nights where there were times I lost close friends, and felt as if I left everything behind, not everything was just light, but without those moments I wouldn’t be at the highest extent of myself or wouldn’t have accomplished my prophecy God has given to me. Everything that happens to you, really happens for you. Everything will begin to align together, Even in the darkness, you are still the light. The more you know that, you will be able to meet your inner-child’s dreams right in your hands.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, during the process, a lot of things took place. There were times that I didn’t understand why some things were not happening on the time-frame I wanted things to be, There were even times where I have lost my closest friends that I’ve had for years, times that I wasn’t liked, times that I have failed. However, those things have happen for me to truly understand the title of my film, That it is worth the wait. But those times were not there to stay, they were only there to prepare me for something bigger, even bigger than what I’ve asked or dreamt of. Trust me, everything will start to align, and you’ll look back on why those specific challenges had to happen the way they did for you to reach your paradise.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I Specifically focus on Direction, Producing, Writing and Acting. I visualize my vision months or even years, to master everything that I see.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something most people don’t know about me, is that I love to mentor other young people, students who want to succeed in things that they truly want to do. I love to help other people reach their goals daily, that is actually what motivates me on a daily basis.
