Today we’d like to introduce you to Bridgette Washington
Hi Bridgette, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am at least a third generation hairstylist following my grandmother and mother. However, I am the first to actually make a career of it. Whenever my mother would get her hair done, she would take me with her and I became fascinated with it. At the age of ten, I began rounding up my guinea pigs which consisted of the neighborhood school aged girls whose mothers couldn’t afford to get their hair done professionally and started braiding my heart out. Word spread and my clientele grew. I was booked up every weekend and eventually began assisting in salons by age 12. The rest is history!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It wasn’t always smooth. However, one of the biggest obstacles for me was overcoming the fear of losing. I came to learn that as long as I showed up and did my part, I never lost anything that I wasn’t supposed to and losing most of the time meant that I was about to gain something better than I lost.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a master cosmetologist and salon owner that specializes in short hair cuts and hair growth but above all, HEALTHY HAIR! Because I didn’t want the limits of my hands and work hours to dictate whether or not I could be of assistance in someone improving their hair life, I created a haircare line in order to circumvent anyone missing out on the experience of great haircare our way. It is quality haircare in a bottle which consists of styling products, shampoos and conditioners, and supplements that not only aid in solving any beauty issues but help prevent them. I take pride in building quality relationships with clients that are reciprocally consistent and get results whether it is by way of sitting in my chair or visiting my website to purchase products.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
There are far too many to name! However, I’ll start with my guinea pigs I mentioned earlier and the hairstylists that took a chance on me and allowed me to be around them and soak up all that I could. Again, there were several. Even to this day, I am grateful for all that was poured into me. I hate to name names because there were several but shout out to Portia Houston, my cosmetology teacher that saw what was in me and pushed me through school. Twenty years later she is still cheering me on. When my mom, sister, and brothers were living, they were extremely proud. I have done a lot in the name of keeping their spirits alive and illustrate to my lineage that they are more than capable of making their dreams reality. Last but definitely not least, immeasurable appreciation to God and my faithful, loyal, devout, clients and customers that have contributed to the growth of the brand, AdriAnnie DavRose!
