Today we’d like to introduce you to Ayelet Werner
Hi Ayelet, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey into brand design kicked off in June 2021 during a pretty intense time in my life. I had just got married, quit my job and was also dealing with the recent loss of someone very close to me. I was feeling very lost and overwhelmed, until one day I randomly came across a YouTube video of someone creating this incredible brand identity. That was the moment that changed everything for me. Although I had a background in graphic design, I was unsure of my path until that video totally pulled me in to the world of brand design and I finally felt like I found my calling.
Right after watching it, I fired up Adobe Illustrator and whipped up a logo in about five minutes—it was supposed to be just a placeholder but ended up sticking around way longer than I’d planned. I also opened an Instagram account and started creating and posting anything and everything I made there every single day.
Fast forward a year, and life was just insane—in the best possible way. I became an Adobe Express ambassador, spoke at two design summits, and had amassed over 100K followers. It was a complete whirlwind, and I was loving every minute of it.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey was relatively smooth, though navigating the steep learning curve of client interactions was a challenge. I often grappled with imposter syndrome and would feeling cringey or insecure about the content I posted on Instagram. Despite these feelings, I adopted a mindset that everything I was doing was a building block towards my dreams. Each post, every client interaction, was a step forward, no matter how uncomfortable or awkward it felt. I just had to keep going and eventually, I would get there, and I was right! The best way to learn is by doing so I just kept trying my best.
Whenever I hesitated, I reminded myself that each action on the path to success was crucial, regardless of the immediate discomfort or embarrassment it might bring. Pushing through those moments, I committed to learning from every mistake, embracing each experience without regret. This approach has been fundamental in my growth and in overcoming the hurdles along the way.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a brand designer, I craft identities that are playful and trendy, yet still polished and professional. Pink hues and cute illustrations are kind of my signature. There’s one project, though, that really sticks out for me—it was for one of my first clients and it was totally out of my comfort zone. It was this cool, grungy, gothic black-and-white design. At the start, I was honestly a bit worried about pulling it off because it was so different from what I usually do. But I managed to make it work, and the client and I loved it! This project stands out in my memory because it reinforced a valuable lesson: believing in myself expands my capabilities immensely.
I think what might set me apart is just being myself—letting my personality and mindset shine through. I’m all about kindness, courage, and gratitude. These values are super important to me, not just in work but in my life too. I really try to make sure everything I do is done with a genuine spirit of kindness.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
It’s all about keeping kindness and gratitude front and center. Just remembering where you started, how much you’ve grown, and all the amazing people who’ve had your back along the way. It’s key to just keep these things in mind and always go above and beyond for the people hat are choosing to work with you or for you.
