Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Hall
Hi Ashley , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Getting to where I am today has been an interesting journey. I would say my journey started when I was working in the financial district. I was overworked, underpaid and miserable. I had gotten to the point where I was tired of holding myself back from pursuing my dreams due to fear. I finally made the decision to start making active steps to change my career. So I enrolled in culinary school.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road, I’ve faced many challenges and bumps along the way. Some struggles that I faced was taking financial losses, having to learn how to price my services accordingly to actually make a profit. Working for myself and by myself, I struggled with time management in the beginning, I had to find ways to be more efficient and make my job easier, I’ve tried many different restaurant warehouse suppliers, butcher shops and seafood wholesalers to find the the best quality but also the most reasonably priced. I had to learn marketing and get creative with certain food specials and ways to give back to repeating clients plus new customers. I am constantly learning and continuing to perfect my craft as I continue my journey.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a personal chef, caterer and culinary instructor. I specialize in elevating comfort food and creating my own signature dishes. Utilizing a lot of fresh herbs and spices. I am most proud of my work ethic and how much I’ve grown as a chef and instructor. My work ethic, attention to detail and professionalism is what sets myself apart from others.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Honestly the most important lesson for me is to work smarter not harder.
