Today we’d like to introduce you to Andy Li.
Hi Andy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always seen art and technology as two sides of the same coin. My journey began with classical piano training, which taught me discipline and the power of storytelling through music. As I evolved as an artist, I became fascinated by the ways technology could enhance storytelling and break creative boundaries. This fascination led me to BerkleeNYC, where I delved into multimedia design and live performance production.
The turning point was founding iANDY Studio, my creative hub where art, music, and tech collide. Early on, I began experimenting with integrating interactive visuals and VR into live shows. What started as a passion project quickly turned into a space for innovation. Today, I’m focused on creating immersive experiences that redefine how audiences engage with performances, always striving to merge traditional artistry with modern tech.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The path hasn’t been without its hurdles. Balancing artistic integrity with the demands of integrating cutting-edge technology can be overwhelming. Early in my journey, I faced skepticism—many questioned the value of combining traditional music with VR or interactive media. There were also technical challenges, like learning complex software from scratch and perfecting signal flows for live performances.
What kept me going was the audience’s reaction. Seeing people immersed in the world I created validated the hard work. I learned that pushing boundaries isn’t easy, but it’s always worth it when you’re passionate about what you do.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At iANDY Studio, my work revolves around creating immersive experiences that blend music, art, and cutting-edge technology. I specialize in multimedia and live performance design, focusing on transforming traditional artistic mediums into interactive, tech-driven productions. My projects often incorporate VR, innovative sound design, and storytelling to captivate audiences in ways that go beyond conventional performances.
What I’m most proud of is our ability to push creative boundaries while staying true to the emotional core of art. For instance, one of our recent projects integrated live music with VR environments, allowing audiences to not just watch but feel like they were part of the story. This approach not only redefines performance art but also bridges the gap between tradition and innovation.
What sets me apart is my commitment to crafting experiences that resonate emotionally while embracing the possibilities of modern technology. My background in classical music combined with my passion for tech allows me to create performances that are both deeply human and technologically forward-thinking. At iANDY Studio, every project is a chance to inspire, innovate, and connect, and that’s what makes this work so special to me.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
If there’s one thing to add, it’s my deep commitment to collaboration and mentoring. Beyond creating innovative projects at iANDY Studio, I’m passionate about fostering creative communities and helping others explore the intersection of art and technology. Whether it’s mentoring young artists or collaborating with diverse teams, I find immense joy in sharing knowledge and building something greater together.
