We love grabbing drinks with our entrepreneur friends because they always have the craziest stories. Sometimes it’s a big, unexpected win. Other times it’s a problem that came out of nowhere and couldn’t possibly have been foreseen. There is so much to learn from these stories and so we asked some of the brightest entrepreneurs and creatives in the community to share some of those stories below.

As a doula, I have the pleasure of serving moms during the most intimate, life changing season of her life. My main priority is to create a safe space for mom, and her supporting family members, so they feel comfortable while laboring. Well for the first time in my doula career, this mom chose to keep her sneakers on during labor and delivery… in the hospital bed! She said it made her feel comfortable, so she literally did not take them off until after her daughter was born! It was amazing and confirmation that even in a hospital setting, you (moms) set the tone and can do whatever is necessary to ensure comfortability. Read more>>

In 2022, I received an email from Buckingham Palace inviting me to a reception to celebrate small business in the UK. I thought it was a hoax! After a few back and forth emails, and checking in with some of my LinkedIn network who were connected to the emailer (Deputy Head of Events at Buckingham Palace!) Variety, IGN, Entertainment Weekly, ScreenRant, Yahoo News, Inside the Magic—they’d all written articles about me. I was truly baffled, especially since I was finding this out online like everyone else. This day changed the rest of my life. But what happened the day before to cause all of this? Read more>>

In the realm of design and creativity, I, a senior UX designer with a background in industrial design, embarked on an extraordinary journey that would redefine my career. Despite my role at Baidu’s iQiyi in China, I harbored a dream of establishing my own design studio. In 2019, a unique opportunity arose to design a book dedicated to the “Father of Chinese Dance,” Willy Tsao. The project was exclusive, allowing for experimentation, but time was limited. Read more>>

Last year I was really in a very stagnant moment in my business where I felt really stuck and didn’t really know where to go from here. I was working in my family landscape business going on my third year and I honestly thought I was only going to be working there for a few months to a year max. I got comfortable working in the basement of my new house as well and my business took a major back seat. My sister in law who I was working in the landscape business with was selected to work in a business cohort with Goldman Sachs. She was learning so much and would implement new ideas she learned and I watched the landscape business grow to new levels. Read more>>
