Today we’d like to introduce you to Yuwei Li.

Hi Yuwei, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?

My career started when I graduated from college and since that time I have been sticking to my painting. But sticking to something is not easy, but the love for painting can give me more motivation. Then gradually people started to recognize and like my works, which I think is a great support and encouragement for me, and it makes me more motivated. Collectors from different countries also let me meet friends from different cultural backgrounds, and I am grateful for my career!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?

Like I mentioned earlier, persistence is not easy. During the process, I have thought about giving up or doing something else to balance my life. But giving up would be regrettable for me, so I’ve also been struggling through pain and frustration. I think a lot of people who hold on to their dream of being an artist feel the same way I do. But the process makes one more determined and stronger. I think this experience has given me a different view of life as well as a different journey, which is great for me!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?

My oil paintings focus on the lives of Tibetan people in China, whose lives are very attractive to me. They are passionate, relaxed, sincere and have faith, which is something I can’t see or have access to in the city. At the same time, I also try to paint some surrealistic city life in acrylics, I think this kind of magical theme is very interesting and I enjoy it. My works have my unique personal style, delicate, textured and powerful. My collectors will say they see themselves or a missing part of themselves in my paintings. I like to see different emotions and states of mind in my work, I like to discuss different subjects with different people. Conversations with friends sometimes inspire me, I enjoy the process of creating and talking with my friends!

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?

What I want to share with you is that I hope that you can find something to love and stick with it because that’s guidance from the universe, and that’s something that’s very important to all of us. Although the process will be hard, the process will allow each person to find themselves. Finding yourself will be the happiest thing ever, and all the anxiety, depression, sadness, surprises, and joys we experience during this time are all gifts that teach us to grow. So, young people, go find your way! Go become a better one!
