Today we’d like to introduce you to Vee Castro
Hi Vee, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started by creating just as a hobby and then sold my first painting to a friend of mine. After that first sale I kept promoting my work online and it really helped get my work and name out there.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Some months are a lot more busy than others. It can get challenging when I don’t feel inspired or don’t feel my art is good enough. Some days I ask myself if I should even keep painting. I find it helps to just keep creating even through the overthinking. Working on my craft reminds me of how much I love it.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in acrylic semi realism and cartoon paintings and led paint parties at private events. What I love the most is creating my own ideas and moving them onto the canvas. I’m known for using black light neon paintings which I believe helps me to stand out and adds a unique touch to my pieces.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
What’s worked for me is posting my work on Instagram, following other local artists, local event venues and having conversations with business owners and people who share similar interests. As much as we are in a digital time I still find that having business cards goes a long way and always a good idea to carry around.
